Securing Large Dog Crate

Any recommendations to secure a large dog crate with the second row down? In my Volvo XC90, there are two metal clasps immediately behind the second row side seats, attached to the lower sides of the open back which, with a cynch, easily holds down the crate and prevents it from moving forward/backward and up/down.

Is this a permanent install? There's a few people on the forum who've completely removed either the 2nd or 3rd row of seats, to give a really good space for this...

with the 2nd row down?? what kind of dog crate are you using? with the 3rd row down I just use a second set of cargo tie downs on the cargo rails to keep our MIM Variocage Double XXL firmly in place.

I also have a second pair of cargo tie downs for my Variocage.

Bought a double XXL on eBay and had it shipped via uship. When it arrived, it was actually an XXL+.

I had to take the backs off of the 3rd row seats to make it fit.

oof... yeah the "+" is just a bit taller than the regular XXL.

I may sell it on marketplace and get an XXL. Do you have the Opensource EV risers that make the back cargo area level? Cargo Floor Riser for Rivian R1S – OpenSource EV Parts

I would like to be able to use the floor risers, but I dont know if the XXL will fit with them in place.

I don't have those risers. I built a custom styrofoam block to eliminate the step down off the 3rd row seat back.

Not a permanent install. I'm using 2 cynches in the Volvo to secure the crate.
