R1T for R1S Even Swap?

I’ve got an R1S and love it and so forth… but as I suspect with many others (grass is greener thinking) I find myself wondering if I should have gotten the R1T…. Could make great use of the bed now that I live closer to the beach and such…. So I wonder if there is anyone out there with the reverse desire who would be interested in a swap? Without having to go thru cost, maybe complexity, of selling/trading in current car for the equivalent other, maybe there’s a way to find the equivalent R1T out there that someone wants to swap with my R1S?

My R1S is a 2024 dual motor AWD, adventure trim, with 17K miles on it. I’m at the Rivian Center for tire rotation and a few recall items being done and saw the other Rivians around and that’s what got me thinking…

Can only speak for my needs, but I would never choose the S over the T. Most functional vehicle I've ever owned. The gear tunnel alone (golf & lake stuff) is worth it. Use the bed for diesel fuel & farm stuff along with kayaks for our lake. Much easier to handle than a half ton and enough larger than a Tacoma so can comfortably haul four adults.

I have an R1T and was thinking of the similar thing. I love the truck I have and I will probably never get anything that has so much utility like R1T, but the need to spread the kids over 2 rows had been so pressing lately. I keep looking at 3 row gas SUVs but cannot give up on electric power at the end of the day.
my truck is 2022 r1t purchased in 11/2022, large battery, quad motor, adventure trim with working bed cover. I can look into it but I know it will be tough to let go of the truck.

I actually prefer the SUV but went R1T for one single reason…the gear tunnel. I have an old ICE 3/4 ton if I needed the truck bed but no regrats

This is very case-by-case dependent.

I've used the bed in my "T" a few times and I used the gear tunnel A LOT (Tennis stuff). I do agree that for my use, an "S" would be just as usable and the couple of times I needed to load the bed with branches and mulch, I could go ahead and rent a trailer for a few bucks.

I would definitely trade the T for an S and I know I will miss some things and gain some others (I had an S loaner for 20 days a few months back so I'm very convinced on my particular use-cases).

My R1T is in the SC and they gave me an R1S loaner. It's my first time being in one, and I have to say, I think it looks cool, and yes it seats more people, but that's about where it ends for me. I find myself missing my R1T. It's just has so much more utility built in.

I surf most days and lugging my things in and out, changing (the tail gate is not as nice as the gear tunnel bench), etc. It makes me feel like my R1T has so much more features than the R1S - yet it doesn't cost as much. I came to realize I'm glad I got the R1T and confident in my choice to get the R2 instead of an R1S to replace my wife's car next year.

I am also in a S, and find myself often saying I wish I had gotten a T. I have used the 3rd row a total of 4 times now in 2 years. And we have a mini-van if I really needed more seating.

The biggest reason for me for wanting a T, the ride is so much better than an S.

This is one of my debating points as well...it seems like the longer wheelbase makes a difference in ride quality. Also, I'm used to a pickup cab...the few times I've driven an SUV, it seems louder because of the increased cabin space...

Yeah, I ended up with the T because I didn’t wanna pay 5k more and wait an extra 6+ months for an S (back in the early days when we were all on here posting about when we got “the email”), and it was a blessing in disguise. The S is a very good vehicle, but I have ended up really liking the T a lot more than I realized I would.

I had this same thought a year ago when we got a R1T loaner and took it on our Thanksgiving week trip to the Sierras - the kids booting up while sitting on the gear tunnel hatches. Stashing slushy gear in the tunnel or bed. Hauling some stuff to the dump when I was back home. So practical. Alas, with my R1S having been at intro pricing a trade in would have still been a big outlay of cash to switch to a new truck. A year later the urge to make the change just isn’t there as much. Would I do a swap for a truck - I’m not sure. There are many times the SUV is handy too. It feels to me a case of wanting what I don’t have a little. Of course the natural solution is just buy a truck and have one of each - one can dream!

I had been without a pickup for year, and when I saw the R1T I knew that would be my next vehicle.
I've used the gear tunnel door as a seat countless time changing my shoes after work,. The gear tunnel is also ideal for 2A item transport. The bed is a little short, but with the tail gate down it's long enough for 4X8 sheets, and with a couple of ratchet straps I can haul longer lumber far enough to get it home. I was sure that I had made the right choice.

Then I got to thinking. Sometimes it would be nice to be able to carry more than 5 people when needed. Also, it would be possible to fold down the seats and sleep inside. Can't do that in a R1T. Both of those are desirable, but in the end the R1T was available sooner, for less $ and is quicker 0 to 60, which was of importance to me. I wasn't buying an Adventure truck, I wanted a Sport truck.
