For "good enough" casual use… I keep two nets under the rear seat:
I've had the second/elastic one for about a year. It's gotten lots of use. It's not quite as tight as it used to be since I apparently over-stretched it while hauling large loads of trash bags to the landfill while cleaning out dad's house getting it ready to sell. But, since a replacement cargo net is less than $20, it's not a huge loss.

Nature of elastics. And you also highlight nature of “cheap” imported items sold through Amazon. Intentionally cheap so most people think of them as throw-away perishables. Lowers risk of litigation. And if seller chooses to offer full refund, in exchange for retraction of bad review, it’s also not at a high financial cost to seller. Rivian doesn’t have the same flexibility. They have high risk and have to manage it (and be prepared) every step of the way.
