R2 Delayed?

I was in Normal on the 23rd and was told May for the non lidar versions. I have a reservation, but doubt take it right now.

Why would you post a low level employee originated rumor? Alterior motive? Public service? Unhappy you missed a stock move
? Problem with forums like this seeing a rumor in print makes it seem more credible than just a rumor. I suggest if you trust it act on it privately. If you don’t trust it enough to risk your own money don’t lure some naive people to risk their savings

Was at one of the Rivian Spaces and an employee told me the R2 is going to be delayed until end of 2026 or even possibly early 2027. Has anyone else heard about this?

They wouldn’t tell me the reason why. Not sure if it’s a supply or manufacturing issue. If I had to guess I’d say it’s because of all the chatter online about the Osborne effect if they launch without their new autonomy tech.

if this is true, It will definitely make some people unhappy but it’s the right move. Makes no sense to launch without LiDAR, the new chip and the latest tech.

There's zero chance a low-level retail or service employee would have the slightest insight into something that would have a material impact on the entire company. These sorts of communications, should they be needed, are meticulously managed to placate the markets, and would be centrally communicated to all employees. Anyone truly in the know would be under an extremely strict NDA.

My higher level friends that work for Rivian have said they are still completely in the dark about when the employees are even going to be able to purchase their vehicles. That doesn't mean it's delayed.

Maybe they meant Gen 3 is end of '26 but Gen 2 R2 will come sooner? (which we already knew).

Not sure what the rules for self driving in Europe are but a Gen 2 R2 that can be exported would still make sense.

Everytime I go into a Rivian space/SC I always tell them information they don't know or they ask me whats the downlow online lol so grains of salt indeed.

This TOTALLY happened to me. A Tesla service center employee told me that my Model 3 would be capable of Full Self Driving if I paid an extra $8,000. As you say, "you know it's false as soon as you hear 'a service center employee told me...'"

My friends brother's uncle knows a guy who works at Rivian, said they're not going to make it unless another company bails them out .
