Thanks to everyone who replied. I'm down to these two:

GOODYEAR WRANGLER ELECTRICDRIVE AT
Pro - Looks pretty aggressive and has the sound attenuating feature.
Con - Can't find much about them from actual owners online .

MICHELIN DEFENDER LTX M/S2
Pro - Owners seem happy with them. Better price. Quiet.
Con - Look like they belong on a Prius.

I'll update when the horse gets shoed..
Cool I live around your neck of the woods let me know what you end up with. I have had great experience with Discount tire at university in Davie with tires on my Model Y claiming warranty and changing tires, even if they are quite a drive from me.

Retired from construction.
I agree with Swampnut, It's a defective tire. It should be covered under warranty.

Electric Drive has same UTQG of 580 as Territory, but ~$160 more per tire. IMO, why? If service life is about the same, get lower cost tire. Especially if you just want AT for looks and don’t go off-road much. If you do want more off-road capability, at $400+ price point, you might as well get the Toyos. If it’s all about looks and nothing else, Nitto is a brand that prioritizes appearance.

I didn’t say that at all and OEM tires typically do not have a warranty or it’s ultra Limited.

Hi all,

I recommend considering the Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT, which was developed specifically for Rivian. This thread has a lot of great feedback on the tire:
https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...y-at-275-60-20-factory-at-tires-saving.37522/

Also, regular tire rotations play a significant role in tire longevity—especially for EVs. Discount Tire recently performed a free rotation on my Rivian and had the proper pucks for the job.

Broken belt.
@Winger I agree with @Dark-Fx , this appears to be something structural (internal) like a broken or delaminated belt; it's clear this isn't a rotation issue as some have suggested.

There are at least 4-5 Scorpion alternatives; several have been reviewed by YouTubers, but I'm still using the Scorpion ATs without issues, yet. Nokian, BFG, Goodyear, and Toyo all make 20" AT alternatives that I've seen reviewed online.

It’s good for a low cost all-around tire. Otherwise, nothing particularly great about it. Several reports service life of around 20k miles, which is in line with its 580 UTQG.
I don't recall seeing any reports of service life around 20K for the Wrangler AT 116H XL. Can you link to any?

While Goodyear doesn't have a treadwear warranty on this OEM tire, similar tires they offer with the same UTQG 580 rating have a 50K to 55K treadwear warranty.

I don't have them saved. You can find them through forum search and searching the subreddit. Factory Pirelli ATs are 640 UTQG and most folks have stretched those to just over 30k. One person recently report slight over 40k on theirs (driving almost exclusively in standard height and with rotations).

I searched this forum and found nada. I can find discussions of this tire, but not one single indication of the treadwear observed. This is, perhaps, not so surprising since the tire may not have been around long enough for many people to run through the entire service life.

Shrug. I know what my eyes have seen. And 20k-ish miles with UTQG of 580, plus well over 7k+ lbs of dynamic weight... it's not far fetched.

While OEM tires of all brands (including Michelin) don't typically have treadware warranties, they all have warranties against manufacturing defects.

A broken belt could be a manufacturing defect. I don't think Pirellis are any more or less prone to that. I haven't seen any previous posts about broken belts, so it's not common, but it could happen.

A broken belt could also be because you hit a pothole or a curb really hard - hard enough to break the belt but not pop the tire. I suppose you would remember that if it happened.

You have nothing to lose by making a warranty claim.

36k miles and still 7.5/32 of tread left on my OEM 20" tires. Yes I rotate. About 20% of that in Conserve (on the highway).

I don't think I'm unusual. What would be unusual is if lots of people like me who had normal treadwear were constantly posting about how normal their treadwear was. So consider the selection bias implicit in all these posts from people burning through tires ...

I had a similar thing happen with my HL275/50R22 OEM Pirelli tires.

I started to develop a vibration that progressively got worse. I thought I had lost a wheel weight as it felt similar to an out of balance wheel/tire.
Rivian R1T R1S Tire question: What could have caused this? IMG_3057

This happened on the inside shoulder of only the rear tires. These tires were original to the vehicle (3yrs old; 22k miles), while the front tires had been replaced before I bought the truck.

Once I got replacement tires, I kept the rear tires and cut one of them open. The separation of the rubber from the belt material is likely what caused the bulge, which caused the vibration. *NOTE the missing belt cords were a result of me cutting the tire.

I thought others might find these details interesting like I do.

They only start at 10.8/32”, so 20k works out to average of 2,273 miles per 32nd. Which, when compared to CV 4S is the exact same rate of wear that I saw over 20,000 miles.
20,000 / 8.8 (10.8-2) =2,272.7 miles per 32nd
25,000 / 11 (13-2) =2,272.7 miles per 32nd

So here is what the inside of the Pirelli looked like. There was no hard pothole hit or curb contact and it seems layers of rubber delaminated from the steel belt on both sides. The black on black picture makes it hard to see, but the bubble on the inside runs to the center of the tread and about half of the circumference.

Decided to go for the Bridgestone Dueler AT Ascent 275/65R20 based on price, looks and a couple of pounds lighter

Since they are not EV rated I expect a little loss of range and more treadwear, but load, service, temp and everything else is equal to stock tires (including the diameter, which is important).

We shall see how the experiment works out!

Close to $100 less per tire (SL)? If efficiency is on par... definitely a winner. Same 640 UTQG as the Pirelli.
