I just spoke with a Rivian rep and he said Rivian does NOT recommend putting 275/60/R20 on a 2023 R1T, they only recommend 275/65/R20. Has this be the experince of this forum?
Where was the SC and who was the rep?

it was the Seattle service center. I did not get the reps name. The problem is they dont seem to know about the cars they are speaking about. They're looking through the owners manual while they have you on the line. I called twice with diffrent answers of which neither instilled confidence.

Sounds like that SC needs better training. My local SC has been consistently good over the last two years. Also, I found that to be the case with the Rivian central CS staff. Perhaps give them a try? All the best.

Just wanted to say I joined the club on these tires earlier this week. My R1S came with the 22” sport wheels and I realized pretty quickly that for my purposes, I wanted to have something that was a little more all road/all weather friendly. The 22” wheels look nice, but I don’t need sport road wheels/tires on the least sporty vehicle I own, and I’d rather have something a little more capable.

I bought the Goodyears and 20 inch MSW type 52 wheels in gloss gunmetal from Discount Tire for about $2700 installed (after taxes etc). Normally, I’m a huge fan of Discount Tire and I’ve had lots of great experiences with them over the years; they’ve patched my Tesla tires for free three times even though I didn’t buy those tires from them, they put up with my pickiness about my Miata racing tires. This time, however, they screwed up. While my order correctly had the Rivian specific Goodyears on it, I realized after I got home that three of the four tires they installed were the wrong ones –– the regular Wrangler territories with the 115 load rating, not the 116 Rivian ones.

Fortunately, I noticed this mere hours before we set off on a 600 mile road trip and they corrected the mistake — the tires I had ordered were sitting in their shop, they had just grabbed three of the wrong ones.

Anyway, that experience aside, these tires have been fantastic. I’m really impressed. They are the most “offroady” tires I’ve ever had, and I know they’re supposed to be like All-Terrain “lite” that still do well on road and they seem to have nailed that.

They have excellent road manners, and are only very slightly louder overall (rolling noise) than the 22” Pirelli Scorpion MS tires I had before. Over bumps of course they are quieter, having more sidewall. I am also able to verify that they do really well in the snow too, for what they are — we experienced fairly heavy snowfall on our trip. The car felt very sure footed in all conditions.

In 20-30F weather, with most of the highway speeds at 65-70 mph, we averaged 2.05 mi/kWhr.

I would really prefer the OEM 20” AT dark wheels but those are somewhat hard to come by. The MSW look pretty good and I was able to get them quickly (and they’re fairly inexpensive). Got it cleaned up after we got home and snapped a couple of pics today.

I got the Goodyears mounted on my Gen 2 R1S OEM AT rims at a Service Center. Tires were bought at the SC and appt set up in the app. They gave me zero hassle -- it can be done.

Great tire btw!

Just as a data point, I just hit 7k miles with these on my ‘22 R1T. About 70/30 local/highway driving with four ~2hr (one way) towing trips.

Tread depth on the fronts is about 9/32nds. Rears are at about 10/32nds.
Any update on treadwear? By my calculations, assuming an initial tread depth of 12/32, you were previously averaging an expected end of service life (2/32) around 28K miles. That sounds fairly terrible considering other GY AT tires have 50-55K mileage warranties.

I guess I'm really hoping I either did the math wrong, or you've got more info, and the expected life is more than 30K-ish.

Just an update... I have 11k on these GY tires 275/60R20 "riv" spec. I have a Gen 1 Quad R1S. So far still love them. Still overall quieter than the Pirelli's. Getting about 2.34mi/kwh versus 2.15 with the Pirelli's. Did take one long road trip to Colorado with the vehicle loaded to the rim for college move in. That trip was in conserve mode but otherwise mostly in AP/Standard height. Only worry is the treadware. Hoping it stabilizes soon. I really want to try them out in the snow.
Hey, can you give an update on your mileage and tread depth with the GY RIV spec tires? Your efficiency numbers with these are great, but I'm really curious how they're holding up.

Over 13k with mine and I’m averaging 2.37 with the GY’s and was doing 2.34 with the Pirelli AT’s after 20k. Mostly highway with some towing with both.
How are they holding up for treadwear? I see lots of posts about great efficiency for an AT tire, but I'd love to see some more data points for real-world miles driven on them vs. actual tread depth.

With a ‘26 standard DM R1S at 5k miles it appears tires may make it to 20k miles, efficiency is almost 2.3 MPK at average speed of 37 MPH, the guess-o-meter says full charge is 259 miles, but no way it can go more than 200 miles, previous ‘23 QM R1S had an accurate guess-o-meter…🤷

New tire tread depth is 10.8/32nds.

I’m at almost 19,000 miles on the Goodyears and approximately half worn. Your mileage may vary.

That’s a great data point, hope mine make it that far, what have your rotation intervals been, 5k?

Rotations every 7500 miles. I might switch to 5000 mile intervals at this point.
