Anyone else notice the performance upgrade dissapeared?

hi, I just noticed the option to upgrade to performance is no longer there.....has anyone else noticed this?

I have the standard+ battery, have been looking to see if they ever ugrade the range as well and just noticed the performance upgrade option is now gone completely. Curious if anyone else also had this happen.

Confirmed. Under upgrades only Connect + option... Wierd.

Thanks, strange they would remove. I already pay for connect +, see that there too though. I wonder if they are updating options for us....

When I see stuff like this I try to think about “why” from the company’s perspective.

Why would they not want to take $5,000 for what is a software switch.

The only reason that I can come up with is that the only people that would buy the performance upgrade are those with heavier feet; like “I paid for the whole speedometer and I’m gonna use the whole speedometer!” And that must lead to more wear on something that Rivian has to pay for under warranty. And that thing must cost more than they make on the upgrade. So something mechanical and/or the battery?

I'm guessing Rivian found the take rate on the performance option at purchase went down with people thinking, "Hey, I can always buy it later." And the post-sale performance upgrades didn't offset this decrease, "This truck is plenty fast for me."

Most people don't mind rolling an upgrade into the purchase price since it's included in the loand or lease agreement. I doubt I would have paid $5k out of pocket to upgrade my lease to the performance spec, especially if this has no bearing on the insured value of the truck if it's totaled the next day.

Performance upgrade is still available in my online account. I can not find it in the App or on the main display in the vehicle

The option is still available via my online account. My R1T is a Dual-Large, but this is not really a necessary upgrade for my needs.

Interesting. I triple checked, it has been removed for me. I can only see this when I log in, previosuly I saw both options. I am just guesing but maybe they are rolling out some incentive to upgrade. I had initially leased but bought it out of the lease a year in. I only have 16k miles on mine after 2 years. Still love it and would consider the upgrade if they charged less as someone else said above. I would prefer the range increase if they finally unlocked that, my 2024 has the larger battery they put in (Standard+ they no longer offer). We shall see.

Not available for me either - not that I was gonna buy it - but I did want to provide a data point for this conversation.

Wonder if there's a difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2.

I originally wanted it but didn't buy it at purchase because of the price cap on the tax incentives and having to make a choice between DMP with a standard+ and a good incentive on a regular DM with larger battery pack. I'm one of the peeps who was very interested in being able to upgrade later but despite the fact it's been available I've been sitting on it for a while now. I got pissed off with various software and service-related problems and was waiting to see if they were going to shake out before I dropped that kind of money on something I may not keep.

They could still get my money if my proximity lock at home, scheduled charging and navigation started working again.

If I'm being honest they'd probably also get me with a sale, but if it's gone forever I suppose that's one temptation gone. They're not getting me to switch over to a Gen 2 because I missed out.

Mine was inventory model and has the performance which I definitely like, since I owned the 2022 Quad at first...so I think it would have been to low of a drop in performance to go down to a non-performance dual. I can't imagine they took it down because of lack of purchases, it doesn't cost them anything to just keep it up there as an option. I mean they literally just added the launch control in the latest update. It doesn't sound like they're worried about wear and tear. haha
