Who did you go with for the extended warranty?

I'm still on the fence i see some people cruise past 100k no problems, but one big fix could easily cost more than the warranty
I went with XCare from xcelerateauto.com. They've been servicing Teslas for a long time. I just get the estimate and send it to them, they approve whatever is on their approved items, you get it fixed, and they send you a check or ACH. It's a pretty simple process. Since my R1T is a very early VIN and in a few times before the warranty was up, it made sense to get the EW since I wanted to keep this truck until the wheels fall off. You can play with the calculator on their website to see what term you want to go with.

So you'll have paid (approx) the entirety of your original purchase, with no vehicle at the end? BRO! Not trying to make you feel bad, I just...can't imagine doing that.

As I said before, I'm likely driving my R1S to 300k+ before it retires as a home battery backup. I have not purchased an extended warranty. ~75k miles at the moment. Maybe I should make a thread when I hit 155k miles, which seems to be the limit for some of these extended warranties, and review all expenses. None so far...
Sorry but that math doesn't work out. I would have have to be paying 2300 a month which I definitely am not.

I got my gen1 at the original cost and came out with massive equity in it on the trade in. Happy with it as the Gen2 is fantastic and the finances workout great for me.

It will likely be decided by how expensive it is to keep outside of its warranty.

Considering how hard I am on it, if it's 4k/year (Edit* 6k is likely more realistic given the suspension) I can live with it. 10k? Will make me question my choices.

How do you plan to use it as home backup?

I keep hope alive that the V2H capability will be activated. There is a glimmer of hope with the sigenergy/pointguard system that it is possible even today. V2H has been promised for probably 3 years so I understand why some might cut their losses and stop expecting it to happen, but I've got another 7 years before I would do this. This is the most recent--though somewhat anecdotal and speculative--information that I can find:

Once 800v architecture launches, it's likely game over for everything on 400V. Based on experience with G1 and G2.

I love the R1T except for the fact that I cannot warm up my feet while driving in the winter. I hate that so much. Debating trading in for the R2 or just getting a Porsche. I'll be keeping my diesel with over 250k miles on it.

@CrazyOne I don't see how that's relevant, but I think this is getting farther off this thread's intent. I guess I'll just keep the R1S until a single repair cost for drivability is more than the running vehicle market value, in the event V2H does not come to fruition.

I'm going to keep mine until there's something better out there. Either Gen 3 Rivian, or if I wind up going with a gravity, if Lucid can figure those out. At least another couple years, but probably not longer than that.

I don't see Rivian implementing V2H. I asked since you brought it up as something that is definitely possible.

V2H is definitely still possible. I'm not going to argue on probability. I would rather concede it is not probable than spend much time debating it. RJ has made plenty of comments around increasing the value of their used vehicles through software updates, which they are still doing even for gen 1 when hardware allows, and V2H falls in that category.
