I’m budgeting for 62k with options that I would want, but I expect 59k with no options (wheels/interior color/etc)

Just a hair under $60k with “free” options similar to the R1 launch editions: exterior paint color, interior color option, and wheels. I assume for manufacturing simplification everything else is exactly the same, meaning premium interior, premium audio, large battery pack, dual motor with performance upgrade already unlocked. Which if you compare R1 pricing for those options it’s about $10-15k worth of options, so if you subtracts $15k of options you get the $45k starting price.

Obviously, R1 and R2 are different and have different prices for options, but for a simple guess that how I break it down.

Just above Model Y Perf.

$59,990 +dest

I just have a hard time believing Rivian figured margins on EV production better than Tesla. Tesla de-contents the hell out their vehicles, Rivian offers a more premium product. Plus battery is huge driver of EV cost and R2 battery is larger.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
I have seen a lot of speculation so thought I would start a thread for these speculations. I was going to try to create a pole but I could not figure out how to create one. I was originally going to say $57K. But I have seen so much high estimates. I am now going to speculate $59K.
I’m in the same mindset as you. I was saying somewhere between $55K to $60K, but now I’m leaning more toward $60K.

If they go over $60K I think they’re missing the mark. I thought the idea was to release a middle-tier, dual-motor that’s nicely equipped first, not a top-of-the-line performance model.

I think it's going to have to be under $60K if they want people to believe they're really aimed at the mass market with the R2. If it's in the $60's, it's not sending the right message, no matter how high-level the LE trim is. My guess is $55-$58K.

Not a Rivian
I think it'll be a massive mistake to price it over 60k to launch a mass market vehicle. short term profit isn't worth the potential bad PR on corporate greed. People will understand Launch edition being higher end, but milking every cent out of your customer might not be the move.

Right around $60k. Same price as the launch iX3 and EX60 but faster and better equipped.

It is risky launching with a premium variant but I suspect it’s probably smart. Maybe they’ll include hands free driving for free.

Agreed. The Premium AWD Model Y is currently $48,990. I think R2 Launch Edition will start around $52,990, maybe with a performance upgrade around $57,990.

RJ has said in recent cnbc interview the Launch is Dual-Motor Performance. (yellow brake calipers on all the press R2's give that away)

I don't think there will be a choice. Likely only going to be able to option interior and exterior color.

Thanks, I didn't realize he'd said that LE would be Performance only. I just think it would be a mistake from a customer relations perspective to put the starting price above 55k.

I have no expectations except under 75K. If it's priced well great, if it's not, no big deal to get a refund.

Anything said years ago before Tariff day is not enforceable in my book as I work in Retail so see the effects daily. Maybe they hit it, maybe they don't, regardless R2 will sell many times the volume of R1.

The LE will be Dual Performance, but I believe it will be priced like a Dual non-performance (which won't be initially available as a configuration). That's your LE bonus, which will cost Rivian nothing and will keep the LE price at a reasonable step above the Base. Then when LE is done the Dual non-performance will take it's place at the same price, and you'll have to pay extra for the performance.

That should make LE buyers quite happy if it happens.
