IX3 will be the big deal if the pricing lines up. While they have slightly different purposes someone buying a 65k SUV will shop both.
Pay the man! IX3 is going to be a huge hit. It already is in Europe. I think people are likely to shop both but the buyer bases are slightly different. The iX3 is more refined but less capable. It will be interesting to watch.

BMW already raised the price in Europe. I can just imagine a much bigger markup in the US due to shipping and Tariffs. It will likely start closer to 70K.

The $60k price included tariffs. Destination will be around $1.5k, less than Rivian. Still equivalent to the LE R2 if some of the predictions of $60k come true. This is why I hope Rivian can do it for $55k (plus destination).

Can’t tell what thread I’m in anymore. Every R2 thread seems to devolve into battery, range, and range anxiety, and how my neighbor who might buy a BEV feels about battery, range, and range anxiety. Throw some Kyle in there somewhere.

I would not care about range being more than 315K, except I sometimes tow a camper and expect to lose like %50 of my range. Also the cold weather we get around here will hurt range. Also I plan to own this vehicle long term. After 10 years and I have a 25 percent battery degradation, that would be an issue. All that said, that 400 mile range sounds very appealing. Also there is good chance Rivian adds a Max pack like they did with R1. I am hoping they do this. I suspect it may not happen till sometime next year.

25% battery degradation after 10 years is a bit extreme. I'd expect maybe 10%-15% if that. Rivian's batteries have show very little degradation on the R1s so far.

Everyone says they don't care about range. Then winter comes around and everyone complains about reduced range.
I live in Minnesota and yes, range gets hit, but it's never been a huge issues for me.

Everyone says they don't care about range. Then
they talk about it ad nauseam in every thread.

(Not you. Everyone. Everywhere.)

ICE vehicles are so inefficient it should be criminal. People don't appreciate that ICE vehicles are also impacted by cold weather, but they are so inefficient to start with, you don't see the hit as much as you would on an extremely efficient electric vehicle.

That inefficiency comes at a cost. Our environment. We have been seduced into an expectation of convenience from using wildly inefficient fossil fuels because, individually, we don't appreciate the collective burden it has taken on our environment.

My biggest gripe with Rivian is not battery range. We are obsessed with range. It's efficiency and charging speed. My GV60 performance gets between 200 and 275 miles depending on conditions (cold AF; perfect day). The difference is that when I do stop to charge, the 800v architecture means really fast charging. So fast, that sometimes the 18 minutes it takes me to go from 10-80% goes by so fast that I'm running out from the rest stop to unplug so that I don't get slapped with the idle fees EA has started charging at busy charging areas if you hit 85% SOC.

The iX3 is going to be a hit, but man I can’t stand how pretty much any modern BMW looks.
