My update took longer than usual, nothing close to 12hrs. I didn’t time it. It was long enough for me to go out to the vehicle to check. It was stuck on the preparing to update screen for quite some time. I suspect this may be due to the Unreal Engine 5 Update.

I have been downloading this update for about 12 hours now and the diwnload is still under 40% complete where it used to be much quicker in previous software updates.

Anybody experiencing the same?
What kinds of speeds do you usually experience? Is the signal to you vehicle strong or not?

Maybe the servers/data center that is hosting Rivian's files is getting slammed or experiencing an outage... Lots of factors where the download could be halted.

There's no emergency fixes in this update, so it'll happen when it happens.

Yes. All of the items on the gauges menu are smaller to accommodate the large "towing" tab at the top that I'll never use. Ugh. Gauges were much better two versions ago.
They were better before the towing tab, but the change I'm talking about was just introduced in this one, 2026.03.

That space at the top is also there for the RAD tuner in the Gen 2 Quads, so there is a reason. And maybe it'll get used more as time goes on.

The changes this time were to fix the weird alignments introduced in 2025.46.0/.30. Consequence of having to make room to accommodate the headers/sections at the top. From what I've seen, it's at least tidier than it was.

Sport Mode FTW! It drives a lot like AP in the QM, which is fine with me because that's what I spent all of my time in anyways. Definitely a huge upgrade in driving experience over AP for the DM.
I have a non-performance Dual Motor.

The locked rear drive unit is a SIGNIFICANT upgrade in traffic. The constant lock/unlock was annoying at best before. Only slight quibble is that I can't choose "soft" as a suspension setting. The concrete interstates up here Buffalo make for a jarring ride and I'll take all the plushness I can get. I understand why it's not an option though. I'll take the trade off for the AWD lock though.

I did notice the graphic that shows power/regen in the center of the drive mode screen changed. It's not bad, but I think the old one was nicer. Meh, no big deal.

What changed? I don't have the update yet so I'm curious... is it just spacing because they adjusted all the other 'dials'?

I drive in Moderate primarily anyways. I really only used "soft" in Low to compensate. Moderate in Sport Mode did feel a smidge tighter than it did yesterday though, so I wonder if they also tweaked the drive modes. I didn't notice a huge difference in dampening, but there seemed to be less roll in the turns. Maybe that's just the result of having actual torque vectoring now instead of criminal understeer from FWD.

Although the update doesn't do much for Perf models, I'm glad the regular duals got this fix instead of having to turn down stability or go to snow mode for awd. The torque steer in fwd is terrible, the car only brakes using the front and it pushes bad in corners.

The real gem was Rally mode which expanded so many options for Perf models. Launch mode isn't that appealing to me but I'll take it. I'd advise everyone to make sure the wheels are perfectly straight and in a low mode when launching the car at any time. I just got new shafts and I'm not in a hurry to have clanking and creaking again.

The line art around the graphic got a little tighter and "busier". It's not bad, just different.

Anyone find their Gen 1 driving experience got smoother after this update? Starting and stopping feels less jerky in both All Purpose and Sports modes, almost like the behavior of break on/off has been optimized.

If you are linked to rivianroamer he might be able to take a glance and provide insight. And linked, you should be able to see if it's paused or lost connection. Or, you can try disconnecting and reconnecting vehicle to WiFi. Once reconnected, it may take a minute or two to resume download. Last resort, reset.

I will never understand why each update makes the fonts smaller. We're old and don't have great eyesight. Make the fonts bigger. I loved it when they made the speedometer font larger. Now this update and the past one shrunk the center screen with the "Towing" tab taking up useless space shrinking everything and now the little car icon (where you see power to the wheels) is smaller, and the mi/kwh under efficiency is tiny. Why??????? Who looks at this and goes oh yeah, that's much better, let's release that.
