All manufacturers delay the cheaper trims when vehicles first come out. It doesn’t make sense to focus resources and time on less profitable models initially.
If you are RJ do you make the 20-25k R2’s this year a $60k vehicle or a $45k vehicle?
This may sound crazy but if the lease numbers are reasonable, I’m tempted to sell my Range Rover and lease an R2. Free up equity and have a reasonable monthly payment. It’s a much different price point but I love the look and the materials and interior seem to be premium enough. 0-60 is important to me—I don’t need quad motors but dual is good.
I have no interest in any other vehicles in this price range which to me speaks highly of the design and features of the R2.
I test drove the R1S recently and really enjoyed it but mentally don’t want to pay $1100 a month leasing it when people 2 years ago were getting $800 leases for the same car.
