Another data point...
My 2025 DM came with the 20" good years. They seem fine other than wear. I'm at 13k and would be thrilled to get 18k. I don't do launches or aggressive driving. Hilly curvy roads (West Austin). Very little highway driving. For comparison, my previous vehicle (Nissan Frontier Nismo). Would get ~50k on BFG all terrains.

The jury is still out on wear, it seems like 20,000 miles plus or minus 25% is most common, hoping they make it 25k plus.

I’ve personally been happy with all aspects of my Goodyear tires, including how they’ve worn through 19,000 miles with plenty of tread left — but “your mileage may vary.”
This old saying is especially true for EV tire wear. The combination of high vehicle weight, instant torque, regen‑braking habits, road conditions, alignment, temperature, inflation pressure, rotation frequency, and individual driving style creates huge variation. Even small differences in how and where someone drives can have significant effects on tread life. Because of all these factors, it’s challenging to estimate or predict mileage for EV tires.

I will add that my former truck had the GY OEM and I loved them, and begged Rivian to just put them on my new Tri, but they won’t put them on anything besides the Dual Standard now. Will likely get a set in spring to swap Pirelli AT’s I now have. I had 20k miles on them and they had plenty of life in them, ~1.85 in winter and ~2.45 in summer.

I don't know why that is. Just go to Discount Tire or an equivalent. They had no issue putting them on my R1T quad.

I just got my Michelin Defender LTX 2 265/65/20 XL at Costco inflated to 48 PSI. My OEM AT tires needed to be replaced at 25K. I ordered the Michelin Agilis CrossClimate 2 thinking about durability, but Costco would not put them on the R1S so I was recommended these. OMG, the ride is noticeably quieter that I can hear the motors whirling more. The ride is so much softer that I do not feel every bump on the road. I will need to get used to this.

I got about 700 miles on these (GY). Running about 2.4 at mostly highway speeds of 75mph avg. Very very quiet compared to the OG tyres where I was getting about 2.2. So, looks like improvements all the way around. Cheers.

I love these tires but I don’t understand how you’re getting 2.4. I’m lucky to see 2.1 @ 75mph in moderate weather (60-70F). What temps and what wheels are you on?

Just a new data point. Just had my GY rotated at 15k miles. All 4 tires are at 7/32. So not the best wear. Again running ‘22 R1S quad. Still much quieter than the pirellis. Getting lifetime of these tires 2.25 mi/kwh. Mostly AP mode for daily with 2 long road trips using conserve. Hope that helps.

Temps were around mid 70s and the wheels are the OEM 20s. Hardly any wind during this drive. 90% on conserve mode. And hardly any abrupt stop/go driving-consistent speeds. I probably would have done better below 75mph.

Just about need to replace these (inspection in May). I'm at 5/32 with 23,900 miles. Efficiency is 2.14.
What is a reasonable estimate for the Michelin Defender LTX MS/2 in terms of miles?

There is so much good information here about the Goodyear tires and ready to order them. Is there a promo code for the USAA discount?

You have to log into your USAA account and link from there.

@B Digs I finally made the jump and got your tires! Just hit 1k miles and so far, I'm happy.

It took a while for Goodyear website to get them in stock so I could order through USAA with 25% off, but I don't regret it one bit. They are much quieter and smoother than the Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws, they definitely drive like AS on dry roads but handle like AT in inclement weather. The jury is out on efficiency, I can't get a good bead with our wonky spring weather but they seem to be in between AT and AS. The biggest reason for changing was 116 load index for towing.

For any locals, I also highly recommend the Goodyear shop in Silverdale. Great people in the shop, interesting atmosphere for people watching, and their night shift works on Amazon's fleet of EDVs so they are fully versed in all things Rivian and have heavy duty lifts!

I just did the same thing, at the same place. My experience was a bit different...

They only have one tech who works on Rivians, but he seems to know his stuff. He even did the tire swap in software without me having to tell him how. That said, he did lose my valve caps.

I was supposed to get the tires swapped last week. After an hour and a half of waiting and already having the tires removed, they discovered they didn't even have my new tires... They were still in transit from Indiana even though I ordered them 2 weeks prior and the site said they were in stock. I had to reschedule for a week later due to the availability of a single tech. When he came in the next time, looked hung-over and wore his sunglasses the entire time.

The manager there spent the entire time for both visits on his phone and talking about bananas. He offered no remedies or apologies, only said it was 'dot com's fault even though they had the tracking numbers on my order and could have easily verified the status before waisting my Saturday.
