Reasonable pricing, specs and range. Don't love the timelines on the cheaper options as they spent two years advertising base $45k price so it comes off as misleading, but it is what it is.

For how boxy the R2 is, i'm actually impressed with range as it's competitive with Model Y.
Don't let the boxy shape fool you. The R1T is more aerodynamic than the CT. I believe it has the lowest drag coefficient of any electric truck.

What's up with the sound system choices, has Rivian completely given up on audio?

Nine speakers in premium/performance trims
Five speakers in the base trim

Heck, I'd be better off plugging in a pair of Homepod minis.
Very concerning for those of us for whom audio is important. Even the 9 speaker setup lets hope they got it right. The R1 is trash for the price range (except the original Meridian system).

Oh I know. I just meant that 3.75 will probably never be achieved in real world driving unfortunately.
The EPA combined city/hwy cycle is real world driving and accurate. I achieve those range numbers regularly in my R1T when I drive a similar profile. Is just not the 75mph highway range estimate a lot of people assume or want it to be. But, it is real world driving for many situations. The EPA numbers just need to be understood and used for what they are and are not.

Well here's to hoping BMW stops retrofitting ICE vehicles for electric use.

They are marketing up to 400 miles in range, but not sure if that is for the single or dual motor variant. 800V architecture is nice and wish Rivian got on that. No mention of either having V2X
Neue Klasse is EV only platform.

400 mile range is dual motor variant.

Agreed and the base Volvo P10 for a similar price has a 21 speaker branded system as standard.

Well it's not really "real-world" because range doesn't matter to most people in those situations. It only matters in highway driving (i.e. long trips)

Agreed. Before I chose the Rivian, I was cross shopping it to the EX90. On paper and in the small video clips we had of it, it looks great. Then it was delayed again, and then the horror stories of the SW/infotainment came out from owners that lived with it. I cancelled my EX90 reservation after 6 months of driving the Rivian. Some of the features from the Volvo are neat and I wish Rivian also adopted (ie auto folding/unfolding rear seats from the tailgate, lowering the air suspension from the tailgate to help you load heavier items).

The XC60 looks good on paper. But manufacturers specs don’t capture everything….

I COULD be wrong, but TSLA NEVER actually ended up offering a true $35K Tesla Model 3, even stripped of all decent features, connectivity, pleather seats, no sunroof, no rear floor mats, it was a higher priced model that was software limited.. so a major loss product that only stayed on the website for a couple months.. even then, one had a very hard time getting a Tesla showroom to spec that model and deliver it, and within 9 months it was no longer an option even for special order. If Rivian can actually deliver a reasonable vehicle for $45K, within 12-18 months of product launch, I’ll call that hitting a target.
There was at least a six-month period last year when you could get the Model 3 RWD with 363 miles of range (not the stripped model) for $35,000. It was $42,490 - $7,500 tax credit at POS = $34,990.

Swap reservations?

Serious question, would Rivian allow this with a family member? I ordered ASAP at reveal, they ordered months later. They need a replacement for their ICE car now, I can wait.

If they can MAKE them I actually think we’ll get more than 20K in 2026, but it a function of when they can produce.
I do think they will have the ability to manufacture. But, at $55k+ out the door, I do not think there is much of a market.
