But is the R1 the only car using or is compatible with that size? There could be more, or more coming.
I think I did some kind of search last year to see if any other car manufactures out there actually using 275/55/21 and didn't come up with any.

Well, like some of our forum family, I too am bit disappointed with the price vs specs. It is soooo 2023 kind of EV.

Also the fact that $45k model is not until late 2027 (today, who knows the actual date) was also met with disappointment and stock sold off as soon as the pricing data was leaked.

Since I am not in the market to buy R2 class of vehicle, I can objectively say that both iX3 and EX60 looks more appealing even if its few thousands more. When compared to the base model at $45K, R2 is more affordable but it has to compete with the Equinox/Blazer/BZ competition.

As a shareholder, I hope that the style and appointments are enough to do well beyond the initial surge from Rivian fans.
The XC60 looks good on paper. But manufacturers specs don’t capture everything….

With that Launch Edition price it's going to be very difficult to hold out for a LIDAR model.
I think that’s kind of the point, especially with lifetime Autonomy+. Throw in that prices are only going to go up from here and it might be years before we can even take advantage of what LIDAR will bring, might as well grab it early…

…and deal with inevitable first model year headaches 🤣

330 miles on a 87.9 kwh battery equates to 3.75 mi/kWh.

That only seems remotely possible in low speed, around town, frequent stops type of trips.
I agree 3.75 mi/kwh seems unrealistic. The iX3 is 3.67 mi/kwh, with a much more slippery design.

Either BMW is massively underestimating their range or Rivian is overestimating(or a combo of both).

While exciting, I'm really hoping that we get some details on an R2 Tri. Not like full on pricing and specs, but at least details on what to expect when it does come out.

Maybe this will be the first project from the RAD team? A R2 with 850 HP with a RAD tuner and a gear guard badge just like current R1 Quad is silly enough to get my money. Tease me Rivian!

Or...R2X anyone?

I hope launch is available in different wheel and tire specs. Would love the all terrain ones. Don’t like the larger or the range ones on the slightest.
Me too. For me, it has little to do with tire availability -- I just don't like huge rims. The 21s look big on the R1 -- they'll look comical on the R2. I like the aesthetic of larger sidewalls.

BMW is known to massively underrate specs, but my i4 was always around or a little less than EPA.

I COULD be wrong, but TSLA NEVER actually ended up offering a true $35K Tesla Model 3, even stripped of all decent features, connectivity, pleather seats, no sunroof, no rear floor mats, it was a higher priced model that was software limited.. so a major loss product that only stayed on the website for a couple months.. even then, one had a very hard time getting a Tesla showroom to spec that model and deliver it, and within 9 months it was no longer an option even for special order. If Rivian can actually deliver a reasonable vehicle for $45K, within 12-18 months of product launch, I’ll call that hitting a target.
Agree it's hitting a target. But my point is it's an extremely watered down version of an R2 with specs that wouldn't have been impressive in 2024, let alone late 2027. That's why I wouldn't expect it to last long or sell very well.

One thing not accounted for, how electrically efficient each platform is. And no one knows because no independent testing of the motors and platforms have been done. All we know is Rivian made R2 platform even more efficient than R1 refresh—the motors themselves, the computers, the total length of wiring...

All I can say is the same goes for Rivian. What it looks like on paper versus what actually gets delivered once its in the hands of consumers.

Since you linked EX30, not EX60, Edmunds story, here is the Edmunds EX60 link and an additional link to the Autocar about how EX60 is the only software defined vehicle in EU.

Great pricing, I expected higher.
But... Still very much in that mid premium buyer range. Model Y, RAV4, land cruiser, C-RV , CX-50 (target demo) are still $10-20k less. It'll be a tough sell to bring those buyers over. And other EVs coming to this space will be priced similar to lower, will more features and charging speed.

3.75 mi/kWh seems high, no? No way it will be able to get that at highway speeds.
I'm not aware of manufacturer that uses highway speeds for their estimated range. The EPA test uses it as one of many factors when calculating it's range estimates. As with any SUV, it's safe to assume 15-20% less range at highway speeds of 70+ MPH, but no manufacturer is going to say that up front.
