I expect the Coastal Cloud interior color will have an upcharge also. The only upcharges for the LE over the list price at this point appear to be whatever the paint will cost.

From everything I have read the launch package is only available with the performance spec. Maybe in a couple of places the text is not as clear but the launch package is likely to have gone before the premium is available late this year.True, so that "For a limited time, every R2 includes Launch Package..." comment is a bit misleading, as it says that in two locations on the main page (even if you select "Premium" on the Explore the Lineup section):
Location #1

Location #2 (after you click 'Explore' on the button above)

So just adding things up.... $53,990 Premium + $2500 standalone charge for Autonomy+ = $56,490. Not sure how much the Tow Package would be, but that is definitely something I would consider adding as well.
This makes the $57,990 Performance an even tougher decision for me vs. Premium, as the Launch Package makes it an excellent value.

I wonder if the 21" road tires will be 3PMSF--spending most of my time in MN and CO, this may be a deciding factor in wheel/tire selection.Smallest factory size announced so far is 19" (on R2 Standard). If you go off-road, for max traction, you want as much sidewall to width ratio as you can get. Because aired-down, that means larger and longer contact patch. And it looks like the more off-pavement oriented tire option is the BFG Trail Terrain T/A (255/60R20)—available on Performance trim, 307 mi range instead of 330—which isn't a true AT. It's an all-weather (3PMSF rated). Based on images shown, it's paired with the 20" wheel. Unknown is if all R2 trims have the same brakes and if the 19" would fit on higher trims—so customers could run that size and put real ATs on them instead of the BFG AS/AT hybrid.
charge extra for funIf they continually charge extra for the "fun" colors, they will sell fewer of them.

I don't see 3 Peak symbolFrom Instagram. This looks to be the 21" option, 255/55R21. Pirelli Scorpion MS Elect. Visible is the "outside" marking—asymmetrical tread.

It is the same thing on every configurator of every brand in the world.charge extra for fun
only offer on highest trims
only on special editions
It isn't one. It's a MS. Same tire option on the R1, just different size.I don't see 3 Peak symbol
It all depends on a smooth launch and transition to production--if that happens and they hit their production promises...Any bets if $RIVN comes back to life aka >$20 by 2026Q4...?
TeslaIt was said LiDAR would flow into production near end of '26. Level 4 autonomy requires legislation. All Rivian (or anyone else) can do is work on the tech. The rest is NOT up to them. Intent of LiDAR in R2 is because R2 customer bases will be a much larger share of the pie. This means, eventually, lots of crowd sourced autonomy data could be gathered and inform how other, non-LiDAR equipped, cars/models could drive themselves well. In short, LiDAR itself is not something you absolutely have to have in order to have autonomy.
Wow, Half-Moon Gray with the light interior for me.
All the colors in person. Not all that clear but...
And Dolby Atmos confirmed.
I think they might have buried the lead a bit. But it MIGHT be the case that all Performance Launch Edition (LE) models are ONLY in the Eskar Silver color, and possibly the launch Green color (paid upgrade) and other colors might NOT be available for the initial LE deliveries.. that would. ..s..k..
I’m just reading this in the initial embargoed press packet.
Tesla disagrees with you and has the best autonomous driving capabilities. The Lidar hardware is a visible addition to the front roof of the R2. That hardware is clearly missing in all of the initial editions of the R2.

IMHO, any autonomous vehicle without Lidar and other sensors is seriously handicapped and I would not feel safe nor trust it with eyes-off operation. But with Lidar and other sensors(cameras, sonar, radar), vehicles have the potential to be even safer that human drivers due to their greater ability to sense objects in poor visibility, etc.
Yeah, so what. All this handwringing over waiting or not waiting for LiDAR... If regulators don't approve, it's moot. They will not approve eyes-off level 4 unless there are redundancy of sensors. While LiDAR is that, it doesn't mean they will automatically approve. Too many unanswered questions around level 4. Like who is responsible for accidents? All that will take legislation and layers of court appeals/challenges. The gears of govt. move slow, that's been answered long ago. Until it is approved, those with LiDAR would just be contributing to a development platform.Tesla
Every car manufacturer has advertised a starting price for 50+ years. Every car manufacturer has options that add additional cost. Is the expectation that Rivian would include upgraded trim levels and options at no charge or that they would launch with all trim levels available immediately? No, a sale does not need to take place for "bait and switch" to occur or be illegal. The offense is the deceptive advertising and intent to lure customers without planning to sell the bait item, often shown by refusing orders, disparaging the bait, or using sales incentives against it.
I bet you are right.Seeing embargoed R2 spec sheets that were given to press prior to today, they did show 265miles for base R2. Rivian definitely saw feedback online yesterday and changed base to 275+.
Just a guess...but the base model could just be a software locked battery pack. Allowing them to change capacity easily.
Do you have to have a ticket for SXSW to get in? I signed up for the ride.If you're in Austin, easy to sign up
