I live near Rivian‘s Irvine office and have been waiting for a local test drive invitation. I can’t wait to experience the 800 plus HP and the McLaren designed adjustable air suspension.

McLaren didn’t design the suspension. It is a similar setup, yes.

Random question. Anyone know how Polestar is selling their vehicles in States that don't allow direct sales? They have a showroom in the Seattle area with cars. It looks a hell of a lot like a dealership. Are they just completing the transaction online in the showroom or something and then they walk you out to the car?

Interesting. That makes sense. They must have a pretty rigid contract polestar with their online sales process.

I have no children, our roads are, well, it’s Pennsylvania, and I live in a small municipality with no police department, want to try again? . (Incidentally education is principally funded via property taxes here.)

While Rivian did hire some former McLaren engineers, the benefit there was experience with the implementation of the Kinetic suspension and tuning. And similar to McLaren, the Rivian cross-linked damper system was designed in-house using components sourced from Tenneco and Ohlins. If anyone is to get credit for the suspension "design", it would be inventor Chris Heyring who started Kinetic Pty Ltd in Australia which was later acquired by Tenneco. The Kinetic suspension concept has been used in various forms by Citroen, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Nissan, McLaren and now Rivian. But to in any way attribute the Rivian's suspension design to McLaren would be incorrect.

How about the fire department? State park and forest systems? Jails? Keeping your water clean? Paying your state employees?

You also described this as an update email, have they previously provided a delivery window to you? Wondering if this might have been a system glitch, something triggered by a recent config change, or perhaps just a somewhat poorly worded attempt to let you know that your delivery window would be provided later this year.
