Hey everyone,

I’m curious about the specific emergency logic in the Rivian Autonomy Platform (especially on the Gen 2s). I was recently talking to a mechanic about his Ioniq 9, and he was under the impression his car would "pull over safely" if he had a medical emergency behind the wheel.

It got me thinking about my Rivian and the "Watch the Road" warnings. If a driver were to actually pass out or become incapacitated while Driver+ is engaged.

Does the car actually attempt to navigate to a shoulder/pull over, or does it just perform a controlled stop in its current lane?
Once stopped, do the 4-ways (hazards) come on automatically?
Does it trigger an SOS/emergency call through the vehicle's LTE?
I’ve been tempted to see what happens if I ignore the prompts, but if it will call 911 for example that would be bad!

Would love to hear from anyone who has seen the technical docs or actually tested or had this happen.

Thank
Danny

I've seen people do this dismissive 'read the manual' answer several times before and I honestly don't understand it. Yes, the info is in the manual. But this is a forum. People come here to talk, ask questions and help each other out. That sometimes involves topics you personally find annoying/obvious. In that case I would suggest you just ignore the post and move along. You are not obligated to respond to every post.

“Teach a man to fish” and…? Makes absolutely no sense to be upset over a tip that can yield more knowledge.

I try to at least give the answer, or at least hints at the answer when also saying "Read the manual". Habit from my day job.

If only one could search the bloody guide.....
Can you not do so in the vehicle? I could have sworn there was a search bar...

I have waited long enough for the slowing to begin. I assumed at that point it would have eventually stopped. I took back control at that point. Nice to know the hazards would eventually come on with the vehicle in stopped and in park.

It’s a lot more useful to start conversations from the same amount of knowledge. Asking already answered questions has a negative effect, which I’m seeing particularly on Reddit right now.

I can’t remember if I did this in the Rivian or not. If the Tesla AP says to take over, it also tries to stop. So I pushed the accelerator which forced it to keep going, AND it kept steering. I held it for a few minutes while it blared loud warnings at me and flashed warnings on the screen. That got annoying so I put my AirPods in. Anyway, I drove a long time forcing it to drive anyway. I outsmarted Musk.
