Yes, that's what the Starlink website says, until you try to go through with the purchase. Then they show you the real numbers.

$39/mo for the first 6 months (normally $109) for unlimited residential data
No, that's only "in certain areas". For me, it's $120/mo right from the start.

free hardware
No again. Hardware costs $349. Plus $20 shipping. Plus $36.33 tax.
So the "free hardware" is going to cost me $405.33.

free install
Maybe, since it's "self-install"?
But they also want to charge me a $1,500 "demand fee", so not charging me to install it myself is the least they could do.

and they throw in a free Mini

Interesting; my husband was interested in Starlink with our home Broadband at $91 mo. When he went through what you put together, he was like, "Not no, but HELL no!"

Whew, for a minute there I thought they were lying to me ...

I heard of the surcharge fee in highly congested areas, but that seems to be an exception not a rule. I gave the referral link to my friends and family. So far 6 people have placed orders successfully. One of them did not have free installation option at checkout but a quick call to customer service after placing the order fixed that.

FWIW, I just plugged in my address and got a $500 surcharge, plus no free hardware.

I just looked at their site out of curiosity - it's not charging me any sort of surcharge and is giving free hardware, but the only option for the initial $39/mo is the lowest 100mbps plan. SF Bay Area

Also interesting it gives me an option for Apple Pay on my Google Pixel. No idea what that would do!

Yes, their website seems finicky. I had to call CS for the free installation
