Even if I had a G2, I’d probably just use a Comma instead. I’d try Rivian’s solution once to decide.
What is a “comma”? I will be subscribing. I am confident it will improve. Stopping at red lights and starting would be awesome.

You can tell from my avatar photo that I’m involved in aviation and I’d always prefer to fly. My experience so far is it is just like using auto pilot in the plane.

After about 1000 miles driven over the weekend, I'm reassured on my choice.

I found too many spots during my driving around the Southwest where the UHF appeared to be working fine until I tried to do an auto-lane change. I'd get a message saying that "Auto lane change cannot be done on this road" or something similar. So that basically reduced the featureset of a $50 per month service by half. My selection in the poll remains: No but may subscribe for a month from time to time if needed. The nag is absolutely too nagging. I literally have my hand on the wheel and am looking straight ahead and it will yell at me.

I've never once had the Comma/Sunnypilot refuse or fail a lane change. The worst it has done is get slightly jerky while doing an auto lane change in a construction zone with a jog. (Which is stupid, but done on purpose as a test.)

Since Rivian did not make any improvements in the last OTA update, I suspect the next update will include significant improvements. If it does, I am signing up. If not, I am saying goodbye to hands free until it is good enough to be worth $50 per month.

I can't use it on any of the roads I normally travel, so I have yet to give it a try. so, no point in subscribing. I would try it if was available.

I'm planning to let the free trial lapse and see if I miss it. I've been using it very happily on highways but if all I lose is lane changing then I probably won't care. When I'm not on the freeway I'm in the city or windy back roads and it doesn't work in either of those places and I probably wouldn't ever use it there anyway.

I think the only reason I might buy it would be if I was 100% assured that I would get all future updates including point to point and hopefully someday the ability to follow traffic signs/signals included in this price. But I don't trust that they won't be like other companies and just rebrand the updated product and make us pay extra for it.
Totally agree - lane changing ain’t worth it. Had my MY for a year and the app says I use FSD 98% of the time - happy to pay $100/month, and it keeps getting better. I really hope RJ doesn’t abandon us for the bet-the-company R2 play, so I can have reasonable autonomy on a car that I’m not embarrassed to own.

2019 Tesla M3 owner with 40,000 miles on FSD. $2500 is a steal for a lifetime (read: at least five years) of improvements in driving automation, and you break even in four years, shorter than the loan you probably got.

2019 FSD was really Autopilot, and it had the same capabilities as Rivian has today with UHF. This is the headline. This is where they're starting, this is where Tesla started (well, where they restarted). Perhaps R2 with LiDAR will provide the training needed to achieve feature parity and the extremely aggressive goals RJ laid out.

I bought FSD in 2019 for $4000, and it just kept getting more expensive until they stopped selling it recently. Totally worth it, life-changing on long drives (door-to-door from Southern California to Bowen island in Canada), definitely prevented a few potential accidents. $2500 after seven years of inflation? A steal.

That makes no sense due Rivian to ever offer. The cost is designed to offset development costs which are directly tied to a specific model.
I think it does. I'm essentially paying for a software service. We're paying for all the hardware with the purchase of the vehicle. I am leasing my R1S and haven't decided if I'm going to buy it out at the end. What is the incentive for me to buy / lease another Rivian after my lease or, heaven forbid my car gets totaled the day after I pay for it. If I can transfer it to a new Rivian, that is quite an incentive.
Don't get me wrong, I love the company and want to see it grow - I also own a R1T (Gen 1) and have stock in the company (still negative). I just drove from Las Vegas to NW Oregon and back and it performed almost flawlessly, but I'm in the camp that I'll pay for it when I do long trips.

I’d be happy to buy it if I could transfer it to a new RIVIAN.
What are the terms of service anyway? Not very clear to me yet.
