I’d be happy to buy it if I could transfer it to a new RIVIAN.
That makes no sense due Rivian to ever offer. The cost is designed to offset development costs which are directly tied to a specific model.

Done. Did the OTP, and with my Rivian store credits, it brought the price down considerably.

Voted no because I do not want autonomous driving. It doesn't interest me at all. I like driving (I know of its supposed benefits). Nothing wrong with it, it's just not for me. It doesn't have to do with cost.

It surprises me they're going for early April. Assuming we get one more software update to add features before they charge, there is very little value to me in the current setup. If they added stop at stop signs and lights, I'd consider. Add auto park to that and I probably would.

For me, the rollout has been so poorly communicated I have no idea what I’m even losing feature wise.
What is the Rivian Autonomy Platform?
All Gen 2 R1 vehicles come standard with the Rivian Autonomy Platform – a suite of hardware, cameras, sensors, cloud connectivity, and assisted driving and safety features. With 360-degree visibility, eleven high-resolution cameras, five radars, and redundant sensors, the system can see further and more clearly even in poor weather and light conditions. R1 has the most megapixels of any electric vehicle in the United States, and our Autonomy Compute Module is approximately ten times more powerful than our previous generation system.

Like all driver assistance systems, the safety and convenience features powered by the Rivian Autonomy Platform require your full attention on the road. You should not use a hand-held device behind the wheel.

Safety features included
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Blind spot warning
  • Dynamic brake support
  • Forward collision warning
  • Lane departure warning
  • Rear cross-traffic warning
Convenience features included
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Adaptive high beam assist
  • Co-steer
  • Drive styles
  • Highway assist
  • Lane change assist
  • Lane keep assist

Introducing Autonomy+¹
Autonomy+ is an optional upgrade that is available on our latest vehicles and features an even broader set of enhanced capabilities.

Universal Hands-Free²
Enjoy hands-free assisted driving on 3.5 million miles of roads in the US and Canada. You'll see the Universal Hands-Free icon near the speedometer when driving on roads with clearly marked lanes. Simply pull the drive stalk towards you twice to activate and drive hands-free.
Lane Change on Command³
When driving on a divided highway with Universal Hands-Free engaged, you can turn on your blinker and your vehicle changes lanes in the direction indicated.
¹ Rivian Autonomy+ features are designed to support the driver but do not replace a driver’s judgment or the need to pay attention and control the vehicle. Drivers should be prepared to resume control of the vehicle at all times.

² Universal Hands-Free will not stop or slow down for traffic lights or stop signs. Review the Rivian Owner's Guide for additional details about this feature.

³ Lane Change on Command automatically performs lane changes at your request only on divided highways.

This is one reason it is a hard no from me: the UHF adds zero value over hands on (not reliable enough anyway) and the incremental conversion of the Gen 2 Lane Change vs Gen 1 is basically nothing.

I have been using UHF quite a bit on long drives, but I agree it isn't very good. I especially hate the phantom braking when next to tractor trailers.

Auto lane change is a novelty, and I only use it when playing around. Mostly the lane change function is useless because it won't change lanes when it can, and in Spicy at 80 mph it makes passengers sick.

If it gets substantially better, then I will pay. It isn't worth it now, IMO.

If it's point to point with parking on surface streets they I'm all-in, otherwise it's useless for me.

Autonomy+ starting to charge on April 4, seems like a good time to post a poll. If you are a Gen 2 owner, will you be buying or subscribing?
I bought gen 2 launch edition, so I a already have it.

Planning one time purchase since I'm going to hang on to the vehicle long enough to more than break even.

As it was last month I already found it useful enough on the two lane rural highways I drive to pay for it. With the Feb update they definitely made improvements, despite the release notes not saying anything. There is a local suburban road I use it on, with last update it up longer slows down for a couple sharper curves that it did previously. I expect it will keep getting better and eventually the price will go up.

I'll probably live without it for a month and then decide. $2500 one-time is "cheap" enough where I would lean towards the one-time buy if I did find it helpful. I'm going to be keeping my truck for longer than 4-5 years.

My Gen 1 does all this + will slow down/stop for lights and signs with my Comma Ai Four installed. I have no reason to upgrade to a new R1 or downgrade (size wise) to an R2

I do not think this is ever going to happen. I have not seen any indication that it is in the long-term plans and I do not think the Orin system is capable of it in any case. This is only on the road map for the new RAP1 chipset. (Someone correct me if I am wrong please!)

I think point-to-point is gonna happen for the current Gen 2 vehicles, just minus the parking. I vaguely remember that from the Autonomy event.
