Went to the VH to see the R1T, will only go back once they have an R1S to see in the flesh. No need for calming classes for me! All of that would be immediately undone by getting back on the freeway to get home!

Surely a many-multiple-billion dollar company with thousands and thousands of employees spread across the country can't possibly manage to do more than one thing at once!

To be fair, if their R1T production were looking as good as this hub looks, I'd be rock crawling instead of forum trawling right now.

I continue to be amazed at LG and the way it changes based on angle of view/light. SoCal light makes everything look better, but damn if I didn't want to do naaaasty things to that LE.... serenity now indeed!

Let’s hope that multitasking extends to opening a second hub within six months of the first one opening. Surely not too much to ask!

Still waiting on that Laguna Beach Hub, but I think all of the politics/red tape around getting the location opened will take awhile. Rivian should have just done what Lucid did and open up a location in Fashion Island or next to a Patagonia store! I might head down to Newport Beach this weekend to check out the Lucid Air ... have a reservation for one of them as well. Its a race to see what will arrive first ... R1S or Lucid!

Completely agree! I suspect that Rivian/Lucid are going to build out Hub/Studio locations based on sales volume potential. They do really need to give more people exposure! Rivian needs to have Second Mile events when the R1S is available.

I agree, but they need to build out the hubs now as it takes time and was in their plan. They are behind on this too. I am hopefully by mid year there is solid progress though.

Drove by the old Laguna Beach Theater, where the City Council has approved a Rivian community center/hub with a small theater about a year ago, yesterday. They actually have started initial activities. I would hate to call it construction because they are starting to demo and board up the old theater entrance area. (I remember going to Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnight many years ago at this theater...)

My guess is that between the permits, iteration between the City, architects and construction project managers it has taken a while to get started.

That said, they have a PRIME location for the showroom. Its on the corner of Laguna Canyon Road and PCH with the main beach right in the front of them.

Got an invite for the Lucid grand opening in Newport Beach last week or week before that but I haven been to their showroom at the Fashion Island yet. I doubt they'll have Lucid Gravity yet. Fashion Island is becoming a auto showroom with Tesla, Lincoln, Lexus and now Lucid. Its one way to fill those gone out of business store fronts.

It just makes the most sense to start in the country's largest and most important state in a city filled with wealthy buyers and a large community of journalists, entertainers and customers who can attend the events they plan to hold there.

I understand being in CA and starting their first. My point was almost six months after it was opened no others have and it seems like still several months before another does open. It would be good to have at least a few open so people can make informed decisions on interior and exterior color choices and wheels.

Went to the Venice hub last weekend to see if we truly want to move forward with this Rivian.
The hub is a sweet spot with great attention to details. Didn’t about an hour, hour and a half there. Only a few people but all of them were glued to the seats of those 2 R1Ts.
Thoughts, still don’t know if it’s all that. Pretty wide body and somewhat narrow (car like) interior. Not Range Rover size more mid size sedan interior.
Not grab handle to step in - my wife is 5.5 and pointed this out. In addition, the seats and steering wheel don’t love to an easy entry setting like most modern cars do. Yes, it lowers itself but it still was a pain to get in for shorter people. Some guy said they will add those down the line.
The staff is really nice but they have no clue and no answers. A couple of them actually thought about using their phone to look up answers.
Overall, it’s a nice place to spend an hour or two. The water is free and you have to pay for coffee. Cool area for kids to play. Really dirty street to walk on to get there (yes, I know it’s Venice - reminded me of Oakland on a bad day).
conclusion, still unsure about actually finalizing this purchase. Got a good few months to think about it if we go with the large pack (July or September window, can’t remember).
