Rivian Releases Q1 2026 Production and Delivery Figures and Sets Date for First Quarter 2026 Financial Results

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Rivian Automotive, Inc. (NASDAQ: RIVN) today announced production and delivery totals for the quarter ending March 31, 2026. The company produced 10,236 vehicles at its manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois and delivered 10,365 vehicles during the same period.

Production and delivery results for the quarter are in line with Rivian's outlook. Rivian is also reaffirming its 2026 delivery range guidance of 62,000 to 67,000 vehicles.

The company also announced that on April 30, 2026, after market close, it will release its first quarter 2026 financial results. Rivian will host an audio webcast at 5:00 p.m. ET the same day to discuss the performance and outlook for the business. The live webcast will be available at https://rivian-q1-earnings-webcast-2026.open-exchange.net/ and a replay will be available for four weeks at www.rivian.com/investors following the webcast.

Looking at previous quarter’s production and sales and it’s not the worst. R2 is the one to watch, of course. Q2 will be affected by Osborne Effect and changeover to new model. Will positively impact Q3 2026 onward. A new chapter for Rivian begins soon. Can’t wait.

Paint shop is shared between all vehicles, but it really shouldn't be much of an interruption even if the R2 line goes down. They should have the ability to pull vehicles out between the two lines and continue painting the other vehicles.

Agree the pant shop is shared (along with other common facilities) but the factory has a >200k capacity now so it can cope with 65k this year.

I'm gonna take the odds against that happening. I mean, the "other guy" was a fraud way before he became a billionaire, and the money just allows him to throw his weight around now. RJ seems like a genuinely good dude with a good moral foundation, and I'm guessing he'll stay that way.

Secondly, the R2 is about to explode those numbers over the next couple years. This isn't like Tesla adding a model that increases their deliveries by a fraction. The R2 will be a literal multiplier.

I thought things slowed down somewhat as Rivian added R2 lines to Illinois plant. I’m not saying they’re going to stop making R1 or EDV.

The R2 line is separate enough (minus the paint shop) that the R1/EDV line shouldn't be impacted.

When the Model 3 and Model Y came out things went through the roof for Tesla. Literally! They started making Model 3’s in the parking lot under a tent due to demand. Once they went mass-market they grew into the juggernaut they are today. They still produce over 350,000 vehicles per quarter.

The CyberTruck was their first financial flop, because it didn’t come out until 7 years after it was announced and it was twice the price that was promised. I’m sure Elon’s behavior, associations, political nonsense, and early recalls didn’t help.

The designs of the Model 3 and Y were refreshed in recent years, but the profiles of both vehicles are nearly identical to what they were back in 2017. They’re long-in-the tooth, as they say. Not to mention Elon is forcing the company away from automotive and toward autonomous vehicles, robots, and AI.

I know a lot of shit gets talked about Tesla on these forums, but there are over 100,000 engineers, designers, workers, etc. that made Tesla what it is today, not just one guy that sits at the top. My hope is that as Rivian grows that talent will migrate.
