After the photoshop Limestone episode it’s obvious Rivian monitors here. If they haven’t picked up on the definite shift to the dark side here they are tone deaf. I really think the turning point was the realization that employees hired within the last year are driving around in new R1T's
Hmm... Googling Rivian jobs near me.

I signed up on 12/21/2018, order #4700, so now I am starting on my 4th year of waiting for my R1S and I am beginning to question if the wait is worth it. I had one year on my Land Rover Discovery when I ordered the Rivian so I had that vehicle to enjoy during the wait. I have had a test drive in the R1T and that renewed my enthusiasm but now my patience is growing thin. Many other EV's are coming to market and will be readily available before it is my turn to have an R1S. Is anybody else getting tired of waiting?
I have a Lightning and Silverado on order as well as the Rivian. I will pull the trigger on first available. I believe R1T will beat Ford and Chevy to the punch. Have a Leaf…hoping charging infrastructure improves…it is sketchy for road trips.

Just a thought about that employee who was hired within 9 months & received his truck already: we don't know anything about this person's circumstances.

It doesn't fully justify it, but it's possible this person was already an early preorder, and may have only been bumped up the queue a small amount due to now being an employee, rather than having gotten hired 9 months ago and just decided to get one then.

In fact, it makes a lot of sense that many of Rivian's employees—especially those who can afford am $80k vehicle—would have already been hyped about the product before being hired on more recently.

Of course, as with everything, just communicating more (and I mean to all preorders, not just a few early preorder folks) would clear up all of this, and alleviate a lot of the negative pressure being built up this month.

They probably paid just half the price.

I doubt the benefit was half price, there was some discussion earlier indicating employees would get a 1k a month stipend for 2 years.

We should know on March 10th if they were heavily discounted by dividing sales units by income.

Non-accountant tbought, but I would guess they would just increase their expenses for the employee benefit. The stipend would base to be reported as income for the employees.

I am bummed at the fact that “3 years into the order” I have no idea what I am getting into, meaning can I see a vehicle or get to feel it. I asked them, I am willing to drive to NY from Boston to check out a vehicle in person and their response was an option in California. Seriously? Apparently they don’t exist in the north east coast. All I get to see is their marketing BS. I am starting to get concerned about R1’s ability to sustain in cold weather

Nothing too bad about performance in the cold so far. Even worked well after freezing rain coated the truck with ice.

True but the stipend is most likely contingent on them working at Rivian, similar to how stock options work. If they leave, they still own the truck but no longer get the money.

That could give them an added benefit of retaining people for longer. It also helps spread the money over 2 years when sells should be building.

That is all assuming that is how the actual employee benefit plan has been established. We really do not know the actual details.

Agreed. I'm just not sure that it will show up as reduced income.

I bet you are right. Vehicles sold to employees at regular price so that is still income from sales. “ revenue”
Stipend on vehicle to employee is either R&D(most likely) or typical payroll operating cost. Depends on how smart their finance guys are ?

Florida here, their 'supposed' inception state, and we have nada except for Hialeah.com Rivian-wise. Get in line ;)

I wonder if he is NY city or upstate. If upstate then it’s more relevant to my situation. BTW Love the website on delivery/ map cluster, very informative. Too bad that rivian constant slips make data moot.
