With all due respect, promoting 22 lbs of weight savings is kind of funny. Its a 7k lb. vehicle with most of the weight at a low center of gravity already in the battery pack.

Looking forward to seeing published specs about "standard vs premium". Standard wrapped to match the color of the vehicle would probably be my preferred choice. And also list of installers who can handle this.

You are right, not very much difference for the overall weight of the vehicle , we are not promoting the weight savings per se ( however for installation purposes, it is much easier for an installer to manipulate our carbon roof, compared to the glass roof manipulation), we are just trying to indicate all specifications so you know what you get.

Good point, it is a real concern for any roof (unless glass) I guess, paint suffer too from UV. However we have been trying to mitigate this problem offering the premium carbon fiber roof with a UV PPF protection included and for our standard carbon roof we have applied an UV gel coat for long term protection.

Thank you for replying. I think the UV PPF protection will help. I need to sand down our i3 CF roof, seal it, then apply PPF.

Ah carbon fiber will absolutely crack and shatter upon impact. Cool product though.

Don’t mind him, the weight savings matters for me and potentially others. 22lbs is 22lbs. For some of us, we’re towing rigs and payload is on our minds.

Does it matter enough to get me to run out and replace my intact glass roof? No. But when it breaks, I’m more likely to pick this up than my glass roof if they’re close in price and I can get the weight savings.

Intriguing product. I’ve always wondered if/when somebody would come up with this. I only wish that Rivian had offered a solid roof as an option. I would have been all over that. If my current roof does break, this carbon fiber roof may be a perfect replacement.

Hijacking a bit, but any discussions about making one for the rear/3rd row glass in the R1S? I like my big glass roof in the pax compartment, but I would honestly prefer the rear stay dark full time. Just curious.
