If the iX3 has good lease rates, or if a well equipped version can be purchased for mid $60k, we will likely go with the iX3. The range and charging speeds are a big selling point. We would miss the larger front trunk and pet mode in the R2, but that isn't enough to justify it.

iX3 Reviews List: https://g45.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2218993

The first reviews for the 2026 BMW iX3 are in and they're impressive. Hoping the R2 can garner this much praise in its first drive reviews.
It is impressive. Its charging speed, range and technology, including the 360 information screen just under the windshield are intriguing. We have a deposit on the R2 and when it comes out, we will sell our 2023 Chevrolet bolt EUV next year when our Ioniq 5 lease expires, we will likely get the IX3 to replace it.

I don’t see any scenario where a well‑optioned max‑range model comes in anywhere near the stated $60K MSRP. That number is about as realistic as the mythical $45K R2 being available anytime soon. A few on here insist it will. We'll see.

My dealer’s GM is already saying the first well‑equipped builds, with market valuation added, will land around $75K+. YMMV.

The main make it or break it point is likely going to be dealing with dealerships and absurd markups between the BMW iX3, Volvo EX60 and Mercedes Benz GLC EV vs the R2. While the range and charging is nowhere the other 3, that alone is making me keep the reservation for the R2. Dealerships are not fun.

Do you have a link to this? Is it a true pet mode, or simply the current occupancy detection mode that activates the HVAC if it detects a human or pet in the vehicle and has remote climate, but that only lasts 30 minutes until it needs to be reactivated.

I believe it was in an Out of Spec video about the IX3 software
