pdawg612 is not somebody that I would be friends with.

Also, the June configuration timeline has been official since the big "reveal" back in March.

The better question is...when in June?

Bets on it being June 30th?

They're also going to be really upset when Rivian only tells people in June when they are going to let them into the configurator.

And perhaps only for those that declared interest in LE. Other models/trims may not appear until later in 2026 and into 2027.

That lines up with what I was told at the Atlanta showing-configurator to open by end of spring

There has been a lot of engagement and anticipation on the R2. Kyle from out of spec said yesterday that over 80% of his audience still wants the R2 over the iX3 and EX60 given they were just launched. Does anyone else think, we are going to get into the configurator and be disappointed? With this level of engagement, if I were Rivian, I would raise prices. Or have a base at every trim and you have to pay for everything else. I mean everything. It may explain why the configurator is opening so close to delivery days. Just a feeling I have

Demand is also purely anecdotal until the orders are actually placed and the cars actually delivered. Rivian needs demand to be continuous and steady over the next 2 years, not just a bunch of people buying a launch edition and then demand falls off a cliff. They really aren’t in a position to try and eek every dollar out of potential consumers at this point in their company arc IMO. I mean it’s not like the cars are cheap. The LE is $60k after delivery fees. That’s a lot of money for most of America. They just need to build the cars well, ramp up nicely, and sell a solid amount every month for the next 24 months or so as the different trims keep coming out.

OK, configuration in June, so what does that mean for test drives? I would think test drives would be available before configurations. 2 weeks left in May, but no test drives announced yet.

My guess is test drives come after deliveries start. They will have a lot of people willing to take delivery without a test drive. I never drove an R1S before I picked mine up, will have no issues doing the same with the R2.

I think they want to make as many deliveries as they can in June to get the sales in Q2 and can work on test drive vehicles in Q3. They have not forecasted that many builds for 2026 so pulling a lot out of the delivery queue for test drives is probably not high on the priority list.

Household income of 120k/year here: this car is a financial stretch for us at 57k, whereby we’d normally just get the model y or 3. If they started nickel and diming and made it 70k, both me and my husband will turn around and get Teslas instead. Them being price competitive is the only thing keeping their interest afloat right now. If this prices above an EX60 for example, you’d be nuts to not just get the Volvo.

The Cybertruck was a failure because they never hit their price/performance targets. The appearance is polarizing, but they got a sh*t ton of orders when people thought the price was going to be lower than it turned out to be.

Raising the price of the R2 would be a huge mistake, IMO. Huge.

This👆🏽

Tesla as a brand only survived the Cybertruck and political troubles because the model 3/Y is the best selling vehicle combo on the planet. If this were Nissan or Honda, they’d be in liquidation.
