Going back to my rant last week, why are they still delivering to 2021 hires and pushing their Jan/Feb delivery windows? It's so confusing.

We have another winter storm set to hit Thursday. Might push deliveries another month or so.

I'm sure it's a huge recruiting tool. So difficult to get good engineering talent these days.
Field service technicians too? I'm curious how many sales they will lose by missing delivery dates and people thinking their production ramp is going poorly.

that sweet sweet revenue from customers/employees under nda. It’s an extended QA session without the bad press.

I think it's less than you think. There isn't an EV truck that you can go out and buy today. A very small fraction of Rivian pre orders have other orders with other companies and might choose a Lightning over the Rivian. But if you were ordering now, an R1T or R1S will probably be easier to get than anything else besides a Tesla Model X or Y.

....and all these recent posts are the results of having corporate policies, that place employees before Customers. Not a good policy to implement. There are many other incentives, that can entice employees without taking a vehicle away from a customer. A vehicle is basically all Rivian has to offer the Customer. Why take it away and give to an employee? Rivian is beginning to take the appearance of a corporation built entirely for its employees, which the stockholders are subsidizing. The Board of Directors can/will also be held accountable. My memory will last for quite a while, regarding this treatment and lack of communication.

But, while we vent, I don't see anyone getting their deposit back, including me, and I'm sure Rivian knows this.

Nothing on the market right now, if the Ioniq 7 was out Id buy it in a heart beat.

tbh, I think it's more than we all assume. in Oct/Nov another forum had several people bail when they got their LE delivery windows so quickly that I literally didn't get a chance to even offer them $$ to buy their reservation off them. I keep seeing people doing similar things, or offering theirs up for sale because of these issues, or buying an EV6 or Ioniq5. I don't think it's a huge number, but it seems like they're hitting a point where missing delivery windows while they're still delivering trucks to 2021 hires is impacting sales and or perception. It just seems like (to me) missing third party customer deliveries in favor of delivering to 2021 hires is starting to have an opportunity cost that's not insignificant compared to the benefit of delivering to an employee for recruiting purposes.

Not delivering vehicles right now (and missing windows) is definitely keeping people from placing reservations. At least among people I know who have thought about the R1T. It's impacting my wife's decision to rely on getting an R1S, and several people who I've talked to about my reservation and their vehicle considerations. I have an F150 order placed, and if it arrives first and I decide I really like it, I won't end up taking my R1T reservation. If I had a sense that Rivian would be hitting delivery dates, I wouldn't have placed that order. I definitely *want* and R1T more than an F150.

The weird thing is, I *think* their production is going fine personally. But the perception seems to have swung recently, and even I am baffled by the current window missing. The bar is/was incredibly low to shut up their most eager customers for Jan/Feb. Like... literally deliver ~5 trucks to customers that we know have been contacted over a two month period.

If I didn't need more ground clearance for one of our vehicles I'd already have been on a Kia or Hyundai lot.

I really want seating for 7 when family comes in town my self but otherwise a Ioniq would totally work for us.

R1S delivered 2/2023
I began filling out my Rivian March Madness bracket tonight...unfortunately, the only forum member invited was the #16 seed in the West @godfodder0901 . I have him being blown out in the first round by employee #5873 who had a far superior happy IG post of the gear tunnel and her dog. The surprising winner of the whole Final Four, taking delivery of a brand new R1T will be a dark horse, MVP, and yes, you may have forgotten him, employee of the month in 2021, 5'9", GIDEON!!.

(Sadly, the March Madness winner won't be awarded until April.)

Really didn't know where you were going with this at first. Bravo for the creativity!
