They removed that claim before any vehicles shipped to customers.

Tesla sold "the vehicle you're buying today has everything necessary to full self drive" (for multiple years before admitted they needed a hardware upgrade, which will almost certainly be necessary again, as my 2016 Model S is stuck with FSD12.)

At the time of delivery, Rivian had no such promises.
Rivian marketed Gen 1 Driver+ as "delivering true hands-free driving assistance" all the way up to March 2023, well after deliveries started, and definitely AFTER I took delivery of my 2022 R1T. As far as I know, Driver+ as of today still isn't hands-free.

Correct, hands free, not eyes-off. They never promised any FSD-like experience for Gen 1. Only "hands-free on mapped roads" which they later figured out the hardware wasn't capable of.

No, but still selling the car with claims of capabilities that never ended up coming to fruition. Gen 1 owners have every reason to be at least a little bit salty. But, TBH, the Comma delivers more capabilities than Rivian ever even promised for Gen 1s so I'm not too upset. I still plan on keeping my Gen 1 for as long as I can keep her running.

Same. I am marginally disappointed that Driver+ won't be getting any more real improvements, but I know I can do Comma if I want. Also planning on keeping mine until it's no longer fiscally reasonable to keep it on the road.

Hell, my early truck's infotainment can barely handle moving from screen to screen...I damn sure know its not capable of hands free, self driving. :CWL:

Would be interested in that. Can you post specifics or links here?
Looking for an honest reply here... what would you like to get out of this suit if successful?

2023 Rivian R1S
product plans are always subject to change, parts availability, engineering readiness, etc. no one is entitled to anything here. Rivian would not exist as a company today had they held off releasing the R1 by 3+ years until they could deliver that one feature. and, frankly, anyone that was able to purchase pre price increase better not be complaining about the product that was actually delivered for what we paid!

I don't really give a crap about the lawsuit, but that last part about gratitude for what we got might be a bridge too far.

The early adopters and "investors" in an unproven car company are as much responsible for the success and sustenance of this company than anyone else.

And when you offer a contract for a product at "X", you better either write into the contract some mechanism of market prices escalation or honor the originally issued price. I am not going to kiss the ring because they were forced to deliver upon what was contracted.
