I imagine a big part of that is that it's so much cheaper to do service on a car that exists locally as opposed to one 2 hours away.Areas surrounding Rivian Service + Demo Centers will generally receive invitations sooner as this allows us to deliver vehicles more quickly in the early ramp.
I don't really understand this. Are they actually delivering cars to people's houses? I always assumed that Rivian shipped the car to the 'dealer lot', i.e., a sales center, and the buyer went there to pick it up. In which case, why would Rivian care whether you live just down the block or 500 miles away? (All of this aside from the separate issue of how they would prefer to batch deliveries to any particular sales center.)
