I used this post as guidance. I was able to do it without having to remove the rear seats, but it made it a little more challenging. But still way less effort overall.

Yeah, that's the route I was attempting, but the wiring in the 2nd gen is apparently different. There is no black wire in that section of harness (there is a big multi-wire plug right behind the rear seat that may have the correct wires, but it looks like there are several green and black wires there). Mine looks like this:

Sorry, I didn’t wire mine because I was afraid of taking too many things apart.

I wired mine to the harness there a while back and it works great, but it’s a Gen 1. I don’t see why a simple three way harness at the tail light wouldn’t work, plenty of vendors on eBay that could probably build with some measurements and pics of the connectors. Just a thought, what most large volume caps come with (just hasn’t been done for a Rivian).

If I don't hear of a better way, I'll probably just look at tying to the trailer harness. I'd rather not use the trailer plug, since I tow regularly.

Keep in mind that any power draw on the trailer harness will unfortunately disable Driver+.

Thanks for letting me know! That sucks, but I'm kinda out of other options at this point. Does it disable even in Accessory Mode?

Yes, the console has a message that says something like, "Powered hitch accessories will disable Driver+."

I finally got everything installed! I used a 3rd taillight logic module from E-Trailer - it includes a couple of diodes that seem to prevent any issues with losing Driver +. Light works great, with no apparent trailer issues!

Finally got around to designing some mounting brackets to utilize the Mars Accessory Adapters to mount the topper and get them fabricated. Absolutely rock solid. A bit tricky to install with the storage boxes since you can't easily see the adapters to align the bolts, but with enough patience I got all four brackets mounted. If anyone is interested, I can order more and have them shipped directly to you. Just let me know. Price would be dependent on exact material thickness and finish.
