First entry's in, with est.delivery end of October? Auch! And I thought I will be driving a R2 this month (CA, first hour reservation)

Speaking of deliveries. This is the first R2 I’ve seen without MFG plates. I think this means a real production vehicle in somebody’s driveway. I’m suspect it’s a Rivian employee, but one who bought the vehicle and had it delivered (or maybe picked it up in Normal and drove it back).

Interesting... two non-Rivian owners with reservation dates of Dec 2025 and Apr 2026 have already received order invitations, while I'm a Day 1 reservation holder from March 7, 2024 and still haven't been invited to order. Based in Northern California and less than 15 miles away from a service center and demo space.

Makes me wonder how much weight reservation timestamp actually carries in the allocation process.

Who knows. Maybe they have a current lease from a competitor brand which is about to end.

Was thinking the same. Maybe Admin can consider adding a column for currently leasing another vehicle - Y/N, date of expiration

Someone on Reddit with an order said there is a $400 nonrefundable deposit when ordering.

Even I get an invitation to order soon I'm holding off until a demo drive. I've been unable to schedule a drive for this weekend when I'm back in town, although I did see a few spots open up for today and tomorrow earlier. Those are long gone.

The $400 is in addition to the $100 reservation, to get to the normal $500 order deposit that is required on all other Rivian orders.

As for a demo, at the Las Vegas demo center at least, they were accepting walk-in’s and fitting them in around the appointments where they could. You might try that if your local spot isn’t too busy.

Hmm, I have a R1S (one of the first Rivian Blue with Ocean Coast March '23) live 10 miles from a new SC and have two R2 reservations within minutes of ordering (lots of refresh, timing-out, etc. and actually thought I got just one in but ended up with two), yet complete crickets here.

I made a reservation early, sometime in 2024. I haven't been contacted yet. I'm eager to get one, but I'd like to drive one first. Also I really wanted Borealis, but that's not available until sometime in 2027?! I find the rest of the color palette to be meh. I was thinking of silver or grey as a backup, but I'm really getting tired of silver, white, black and grey. That covers about 95% of the vehicles on the road today, and I'm not crazy about the greens. No red shades?! No dark blue?

Borealis shows as available starting in September on the design page now (and from other reports). Never hurts to keep an eye on the design page to see if changes come in...

Looks like someone who isn't a day one reservation got invited to order. Which was expected based on what Rivian announced a couple of weeks ago.

I reserved on launch day but received slightly different version.

September deliver now (I also want Borealis) so happy to hear that. As for orders, it is definitely depending on location, configurations people want, R1 ownership, lease ending, and random luck as they said they'll randomly pull some people forward.

I received my order invitation this morning. Day 1 reservation.

There were three different emails that went out:

1. Invitation to order.
2. Notification that you will receive an invitation to order in the next several weeks.
3. The email that you're referring to, letting you know you will have an invitation estimate by the end of June.
