I hope one is a sports car. With the driving feel as good as my R1 is, and being as big as it is, I'd love to see what Rivian can do performance-wise with something built solely for speed and handling, with no off-roading. Ripping down a track can be an adventure and could still fit in the overall Rivian ethos.

They'll have the rally car in the R3X; they race the R1S now. Performance is in Rivian's DNA. That's why I got one. Rivian's first vision was a sports car, and RJ has hinted at one in the past. I just hope it's not a crazy supercar that's way above the R1 series in price.

Wait for the R2X with a lowered suspension and RAD tuner.

With the new M3 being finally revealed a Rivian R3 variant perhaps named R3 Sport could be aimed squarely at BMW's go-fast smaller car. ...For a lot less money probably as well. I expect the new all-electric M3 is going to be eye-watering price with options added. The R3X is a rally car and will be adjacent to this segment but to really aim squarely at the M3 you need street/track tires and suspension.
