If you are a complex or campus etc, many times timely finding local security is much better than dialing 911. Eg, at our work campus, if you need medical help, we are explicitly told not to dial 911. Rather, we dial security so that they can guide the emergency personal right to the location of the issue. You should have called 911 to get the fire department there ASAP!

Just a thought…
I was thinking “Do not touch doubtful things”, back away next, and then call the fire department. You should have called 911 to get the fire department there ASAP!
This was partially intentional. It stopped smoking once I unplugged. Staff came out and said they’d deal with it.That said, when I read the thread title I had this picture of a Tesla charger kicking back, smoking a cig... It's early and I'm over-caffeinated.
Why would one get a chuckle out of a fire or short that could destroy property?thought some of you would get a chuckle out of seeing it.
Because the amount of smoke coming out of it would indicate it probably had happened to other people before me who didn’t say anything or the staff didn’t do anything at that point. It’s also funny because it’s not something I’ve not seen before. As far as property destruction at most it would have melted the metal pole containing the wiring. It was in the middle of a concrete island with opposing parking spots with four or five feet on each side. It would have to burn for a long time to spread anywhere to the point it would have run out of fuel to burn unless it ran back to the underground conduit. The danger to anything outside of the property owner was extremely minimal. Why would one get a chuckle out of a fire or short that could destroy property
It's just on it's lunch break, man. This was at the chargers in the Atlantic terminal while waiting to pick someone up. Never seen this before, thought some of you would get a chuckle out of seeing it. I went inside and let the terminal staff know.
mmmmm, carcinogens.I’m not a fireman nor do I play one on TV. But I think you’ve got it all wrong. When you see something like this, you need to dig out a coat hanger from the back of your car, grab some marshmallows and your folding chair and have a good time.
