Launch now I never said Rivian should have delayed the R2. In fact, I think launching when they did was absolutely the right call. They couldn't afford another delay.

My comment was simply that, given Rivian's adventure and pet friendly brand, I was surprised Pet Mode wasn't ready at launch. That's an observation about feature prioritization and timing, not a suggestion that they should have held up the entire vehicle over one feature.

Those are two completely different arguments.

:) Lots of devs around here. Too often get comments like that from people who have no idea what they are talking about.
So it actually uses the camera for pet mode? Interesting. Does it auto detect a pet in the car? Have to say pet mode was actually a big selling point for our MY. Traveling with a dog around the SW is so much easier. There are probably plenty of higher priority items for release, but having it when people are pulling the trigger on purchase is way bettery than the promise of some time in the future.
The camera also checks to see if the driver is watching the road. But for pet mode, you get to peek in on your pet while you're antiquing, er, off-roading.

Hopefully it's better than the one in my 2026 Ioniq 5 that keeps nagging me to look at the road if I have my prescription glasses on. And even disables Auto Pilot occasionally.

It took Tesla 6 months from the first deliveries of the Model 3 to add the ability to activate the rear seat butt warmers to the user interface. The hardware was in every vehicle up to that point, they just didn't have the button on the main screen to activate the relays that turned on the hardware. To add to that annoyance, those first 6 months were over winter, making the lack of the feature even more noticeable.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
My original comment was simple and just being surprised that's all, but I had no idea some people (not you) would get so butt hurt over nothing.
Welcome to RivianForums, where you’re bound to offend someone for posting about anything. 🤪

How did I ever survive driving a 1976 Plymouth Valiant with a flathead six in Edmonton Alberta where it was 75 below with wind chill and no seat warmers?

There were plug-in cabin and oil pan warmers! So I was plugging my car in way back in 1982!

It's an indication that Rivian is people resource limited. They did just have another round of layoffs.

This video killed me, she does not know the difference between Leather and vinyl. To be fair, Rivian calls it 'Vegan Leather'. Made from the skins of the Vegan.
