Have you noticed any discomfort with the seats? I have read a few reviews from the demo drives that the seats are not as comfortable as they would seem? Also HVAC is doing its job and not overly noisy?
Seats are highly personal. The R1 seats are the best I’ve ever had in a vehicle. I’m 6’1” and slender. If those are 10/10 the R2 is 8/10. The butt cushioning seems a bit less.

Hi Rick,

Is your regret regarding the Defenders solely the reduced range? How does the handling, breaking, and noise compare to the OEM?
Mostly the range hit. I also find them less smooth to drive an and a bit more noisy. Also very heavy. I change my own tires. I have an all terrain set of wheels and tires as well as winter. So I’m in a position where I’m willing/able to specialize a bit with tires. I wish I had stuck with a tire optimized for summer range. If you only want one set of all around tires the defender is fine. They are lower cost per mile and capable but do have some trade offs.

Stupid question I'm sure, but do you have to have the tow package to attach this kind of bike rack? This is really the only possible use case of that package for us, I think.
You do need the "towing package". A $950 option.

Here is a screenshot from today after 15 minutes at 72 mph on a level stretch of I-35. That’s about the best I can do

3.11 is way better than my R1S. You are awesome, thank you for all the info. I wondered if I would have to take my driver out to keep my clubs in the frunk.

Not removable and not adjustable

'However, there’s a catch to installing a forward-facing car seat: The rear headrests, which are not easily removable, are tilted forward; the Graco’s extendable headrest bumps against it—which is not safe. Also, the rear seats don’t recline at all, so adjusting the car’s seat is not an option either. Families with kids in forward facing car seats will need to look closely at forward facing car seat fit to ensure a safe ride. "

Rear headrests are removable, just a bit more complex than usual. Needs two buttons pressed simultaneously, one with hand, other with some kind of a pin like from what I could fine. The pin like tool is also needed for adjusting our Clek car seat, but IDK if it's the same tool. What I am saying is that parents are usually used to dealing with these issues with car seats, even if it's not ideal.

Front are not adjustable as well
The front seats absolutely recline, it sounds like the rears aren’t adjustable at all (not talking about headrests)

So far, there seems to be a consensus that the QC is not great
But, this isn’t unique to R2. R1 has quite a storied past of QC issues.

@Budman any knowledge of how driving with all five windows down impacts eff/range?
I am sure that any car — gas or electric — will be less energy efficient with a window or windows down. The nice thing about an EV is that you can accurately measure the drop in energy efficiency.

Obviously. Curious by how much, generally.
