Oh we all noticed on demo drives lol. Someone inverted the software code haha
I guess that's my point. They've been testing and validating this vehicle for a year or so now, and they didn't catch this before releasing it? You have to wonder what else had been missed 🫤

Can anyone tell me if Rivian's homelink implementation allows for GPS enabled auto open/close? In other words, does the door open when I get close?

2 features of the '18 M3 I love is that and windows roll up when car locks and I know Rivian doesn't have that.
If it is implemented like the R1, it does not open it as you approach. When you have location enabled a message appears and you click a button on the steering wheel to open it as you approach.

@RivianTrackr has a detailed write up.
Garage door, pet mode and many other additions, tweaks and fixes.

Rivian Software Update 2026.24
R2 software 2026.24 brings the R2 several features R1 owners have taken for granted. Pet Comfort, Gear Guard, Launch Mode, garage door pairing, and in-vehicle WiFi hotspot all land in this build, along with a long list of fixes across charging, vehicle access, and infotainment.

Pet Comfort
Keep pets comfortable with controlled cabin temperature while you're away from the vehicle. When you turn on Pet Comfort and leave the vehicle, the center display shows climate information while your pet remains inside. To turn Pet Comfort on or off, use quick controls or the Climate panel on the center display.

Gear Guard
Ensure your vehicle's security with Gear Guard! Gear Guard cameras record incidents while the vehicle is on the road, and capture activity around the vehicle after you lock it and walk away. Motion sensors trigger an alarm when the vehicle senses a threat, and notify you in the Rivian mobile app. To manage Gear Guard, go to Settings > Gear Guard on the center display.

Launch Mode
Designed for use on a close-circuit track in dry road conditions, Launch Mode provides maximum off-the-line acceleration and increased top speed, along with race stats for 0-to-60 mph (0-to-100 km/h) and quarter-mile race times. To activate Launch mode, go to Driver Modes > Sport > Launch on the center display, and follow the on-screen instructions. For more information and important warnings, go to the R2 Owner's Guide and search for Launch mode.

Garage Door
Go to Settings > Garages in the center display to pair a garage door opener with the vehicle. With the garage in close proximity, configure the settings to your preference by associating the garage location, and by choosing a one-touch open and close option if you desire. See the R2 Owner's Guide for detailed instructions.

WiFi Hotspot
Use your vehicle as a Wi-Fi hotspot for passengers and devices. Your network name, password, and on/off preference are saved across vehicle reboots and software updates, so you don't have to set up the hotspot again each time. To set up or manage the hotspot, go to Settings > Connectivity on the center display.

Additional New Features
  • You can now schedule vehicle software updates in the Rivian mobile app.
  • Key fobs now have a battery indicator.
  • Now when the driver door opens, the vehicle detects the key closest to the driver door, loads the driver profile for that key, and moves any saved driver seat, steering wheel, and side mirror settings into the saved positions.
Additional Improvements
  • Autonomy
    • Refined hands-on-wheel detection to reduce unnecessary prompts while driving.
    • Fixed several driver display visual issues during Blind Spot View, including overlapping notifications and a missing Universal Hands-Free icon during turns.
    • Fixed an issue that prevented Adaptive High Beams Assist from enabling on some vehicles.
  • Climate
    • Improved vent control reliability and consistency, including more predictable behavior after sleep and wake cycles.
    • Fixed an issue that caused the vehicle to enter sleep while a mobile-initiated seat heat or vent request was active.
    • Fixed an issue that caused the vents to move in the opposite direction than intended.
    • Fixed an issue that prevented side mirror defrost from turning on after a timeout period.
  • Charging
    • Improved the reliability of the in-vehicle charging menu and notifications.
    • Fixed an issue that caused the Rivian mobile app to show a 0 mph charge rate during DC fast charging.
    • Fixed an issue that prevented the Rivian mobile app from honoring consecutive remote charge commands.
    • Fixed an issue that caused the vehicle to send an inaccurate range value of 0 to the Rivian mobile app.
  • Vehicle Access
    • Improved liftgate reliability, including power-close cinch behavior and drop glass operation after software updates.
    • Improved passive entry reliability after the vehicle wakes from sleep, including rear door handles open and close, NFC unlock with a digital key, and digital key detection on the wireless charger.
    • Fixed an issue that prevented the interior liftgate button from opening the liftgate when the vehicle was locked.
    • Fixed an issue that caused the interior liftgate button to partially unlock the vehicle instead of open the liftgate.
    • Fixed an issue that caused the seat and steering wheel to remain in the roomy entry position.
  • Improved Haptic Halo Wheel scroll and click behavior.
  • Reduced turn signal sound volume and harshness.
  • Infotainment, Media, and Audio
    • Improved Dolby performance.
    • Improved quick control drag responsiveness for a faster, more immediate feel when interacting with the panel.
    • Added a trailer icon to the three-dimensional view on the driver display when a trailer is connected.
    • Improved general visual display and layouts across the volume panel, efficiency graph, quick controls, and Media panel.
    • Fixed an issue that caused Spotify to remain in a perpetual loading state.
    • Fixed an issue that prevented iHeartRadio terms and conditions from being accepted in-vehicle.
    • Fixed a rare issue that caused streaming audio to go silent after a phone call.
    • Fixed a rare issue that prevented the blind spot camera from appearing immediately after the vehicle woke from sleep.
  • Apple Music
    • Improved automatic streaming quality adjustment for a better user experience.
    • Introduced a new setting to enable higher-quality stereo tracks to play while on cellular.
    • Fixed a rare issue that prevented songs from playing.
    • Fixed a rare issue that caused two media sources to play at the same time.
    • Fixed a rare issue that prevented successful logins.
  • Navigation
    • Fixed an issue that prevented turn-by-turn navigation chimes from playing during a route, even though voice guidance worked.
    • Improved trip time and arrival time estimates to better account for charging stops and other waypoints along a planned route.
    • Fixed a rare issue that caused the arrival state-of-charge percentage to display incorrect values.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the driver seat to require recalibration at the start of every drive.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the vehicle from connecting to certain Wi-Fi networks.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the seatbelt icon to remain shown as buckled after unbuckling.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the pending software update pop-up from closing when moving the vehicle from D (Drive) to P (Park).
  • Fixed an issue that prevented vehicle stability mode from transitioning correctly when a trailer was connected.
That's a pretty massive update/patch. I'll give Wassym and team massive props on that one.

Scary big list of released bugs indicating poor quality control at Rivian. Majority of those bugs (not added functions) should be detected by software developers.

Fantastic.

Does it have camp mode? I thought I saw a review that it didn't yet. If not, hopefully that's next.

I have the opener set for both a gate and a garage door. For both, a prompt comes up on the screen that you can activate using the toggle on the right side of the steering wheel. I had to work quite a bit to get the assistant to agree to a verbal command to "open the gate". I'm not aware of an auto opening option but I would really like to see that.

You assume they didn’t know about the bugs. More likely they knew about them but had to ship some R2’s to meet the deadlines they self imposed. They haven’t delivered many R2’s at all, seemingly hoarding them until end of this month for delivery coinciding with this major software patch. Corporate America waits for no one.
