Right, they aren’t telling me if I qualify or not. I confirmed Rivian is included now and assuming by next month it should be able to be applied and just deciding how to proceed as far as who to title/register it to. I wanted to make sure Rivian would allow me to change it to someone other than myself since the order was placed under my name.

I hope the funds last until the premium trim is available but It says the 135 million are split evenly amongst the participating 13 manufacturers, so each get a million basically. Divide that by 1750, that's basically less than 600 units...

They could have included Aptera, whose HQ is in Carlsbad, CA.

Maybe 3-wheel and motorcycles are not included?

Technically. 135 million divided by 13 is closer to TEN MILLION per OEM. (Just maths says it’s 10.35mllion)

Teslas Fremont factory alone produces 500K vehicles annually and employs >20,000 ppl. It dwarfs the current operations in Texas.

There is no world where they could make up that capacity in Texas fast enough, or spin up another factory somewhere else, and HIRE without totally losing NA production volumes.

I guess the COULD announce a whole cloth abandonment of the failed cybertruck product and at least tell the world they would going to shift that line to 3/Y production within maybe 4-6 months.

Elon is prone to shoot himself in the foot REGULARLY, but that would be corporate suicide at this point.. normally there would be BOARD oversight, but that is wholly absent, so I guess - anything could happen.

So this $3.500 is split 50:50 between the state and the mfg so it costs each mfg $1,750/vehicle. When so many EVs losing money on each vehicle they produce, any state-based incentives will take away most, if not all, other incentives that most are running currently.

In other words, while it may help the 1st time buyers, it will hurt the all other EV sales in CA weather its direct mgr rebate or 0% interest loans.

We'll have to see what unintended consequences are.

That should probably last a while for Rivian. They are unlikely to sell 5,900 qualifying vehicles in California during the remaining few months of the year, especially since many early R2 buyers will already own or have leased an EV and therefore would not qualify as first-time EV buyers.

People who already have EVs will continue to drive them if they can't afford to buy a new one. The goal of this program is to get more people into EVs, not to help people upgrade or boost sales in general (inderectly), I assume.

The $50k will affect families considering getting a Model Y L, don't seems very democratique.

It would have be nicer to have an income limitation, like $200k, in the case of the $7.5k tax rebate.

Because someone able to afford a Lucid will get the $3.5k since there is no income limit.

People who already have EVs will continue to drive them if they can't afford to buy a new one. The goal of this program is to get more people into EVs, not to help people upgrade or boost sales in general (inderectly), I assume.

And what will probably happen is actual people who use this rebate and convert from gas to EV will be quite the minority and instead people who already own EVs will be purchasing it on under their spouse or child/family member to still get the rebate - which will probably be the majority...I think.

I just got a notice from my Delivery Team stating that The MyFirstEV will be active for Rivians this month but only for new R1's and pre-owned R1's. They estimate that it won't start for R2 until 2027. That's so odd, I don't get why they would differentiate which models to apply the rebate to.
