I just got an r1s recently but i am very bummed to find out that there is a refresh with lots of improvements coming

What if you don't like the changes? At least you know what you get with the current model. I'm good with 80% change retrofit. That's 80% more than I expected. Enjoy the car-it's an amazing vehicle.

Anyone that says they know anything about what happens when the line reopens soon is just guessing. Could be an entirely new vehicle or just be minor upgrades to make it cheaper and easier to manufacture or something in between.

Don't worry about it enjoy your R1S it's a great vehicle.

A couple of people have mentioned smaller front lights but I don’t see anywhere that mentions this in an authoritative manner. I can’t see them changing the lights since that would also involve stamping changes and introduces more variation of parts for the 100k vehicles already made.

I will be taking possession in the first week of June, and to be perfectly honest, this will be a step above my current ride (technology wise ).
So if there’s a refresh in the near future, good for them. I’m still getting a hell of a deal right now.

Yeah maybe a few more percent efficient but you won’t notice much in a Rivian.

There will likely be some things that they remove as well.

My wife got a X7 a year ago, while the forum folk were telling everyone to wait for the ‘25 model with the new processor. Those who waited got new processor, but they lost rear wheel steering on the six cylinder model, which is a much bigger deal in daily driving.

Seriously, mid production refreshes are mostly minor for the buyers because they are tweaks. Maybe a few extra sensors. But nothing really moves the needle between major refreshes. If Rivian is changing the lights and their pattern, I would opt for the OG version because the lights are awesome.

Sure all of us have a wish list of things that would be cool but 99+% of the fun stuff is already there.
