As for charging times... I think the topic is charged (pun intended) full of misinformation and ignorant hot takes. Daily, each of us easily waste far more time consuming social media than what it takes to complete a DCFC session. I usually use my DCFC sessions to catch up on reading and the time passes quickly. If I had 800V and shortened it by 5-10 mins, it really wouldn't make much difference.
More fair points, also what works for me along my bespoke route might not work for you on yours. "Full of misinformation and ignorant hot takes" is gold. EV owners can be odd birds for sure, I've seen a lot of misinformation and garbage hot takes over the past 11 years.

Maybe they are conflating "5~10 minutes shorter" with "5~10 minute sessions from 20~80%"? Like what Toyota is promising with solid state batteries. Wink. Wink. Nudge. Nudge. Sessions that short would definitely be game-changing.

No semi-active on the Premium trim seems like a miss to me. I'm not versed on the differences, but definitely sounds like something that should be on a "premium" trim.
Yeah the two big misses on the Premium trim is no adaptive dampers and no ventilated seats.

58k for LE (AWD, 330~ range, 600~ HP, tow package) with lifetime Autonomy+ is so tempting.
Very good deal considering once the LE is not available. A Premium Dual with dest, paint, wheels, Autonomy+ will likely be over $60k.

Prem Dual - $54k
Dest - $1.5k
Paint - $2k
Wheels - $1k
Auto+ - $2.5k
$61k

Future R2
Tomorrow is the opening of SXSW, which Rivian has a big presence at (like last year). There's stuff scheduled for revealing/launching R2, including open-to-attendees ride alongs. I'm pretty confident in calling it the launch event.
Cool, is it going to be live streamed so I can waste more time and get further behind with my work 😂?

No EV's...yet
The pricing is right in line with what many expected it to be so I don't think it is a shock to most. If anything, this might be a tad less than I thought. I think it matches up well with the Model Y. This isn't just about specs though, people also buy because they like the styling and brand. When you consider that then the R2 will be very popular at these price ranges and options.

In regards to lidar/RAP1, from everything I've heard and read, vehicles that eventually have it installed won't be much different (at first) from what non lidar Rivians will offer. The lidar will be feeding info to their LDM and all of Rivian's 2nd gen cars will eventually get benenfit from that as the LDM improves. However, after some time, only lidar/RAP1 equipped vehicles will be able to offer eyes off driving. That requires regulatory approval and the agencies involved have made it clear they will not approve any vehicles without a redundant sensor system, which means camera only will not be approved. Rivian can't just train their model using lidar and then have non lidar vehilces work for eyes off. Rivian has not given a hard date for when that could happen because they don't know. But, a good guess is that is at least 2 to 3 years out. If that option is a huge concern because you plan on keeping the car for more than 3 years then why not lease it? By the time your lease is up you can transition into the lidar equipped version.

Tesla is very close with their eyes off/robotaxi driving (it essentially works) but the question is will regulators allow it to happen without a redundant sensor system? Right now, no or they would already be offering the service. The issue with Tesla is they use camera only which doesn't work perfect in certain use cases such as heavy fog, rain, dirty lens etc. It's actually an extremely dicey situation for Tesla right now. They are all in with the camera only system which has been working great up to this point but can they get past that last 1% and get approval? Rivian will almost certainly get there, it's just a matter of how long it will take.

Depends on your needs. Do you need the room or the towing ability of an R1S or can you substitute all your needs to an R2? Is there a money or time component to waiting for a Gen3? I don't think Gen 3 will be coming out at least until R3 is released.

I agree. I'm having a major dilemma after this leak. I was determined to hold on to my 2022 LE R1S until Gen3 autonomy hardware arrived but now I'm tempted... What does the group think, wait for Gen3 or go LE R2?

Price came in lower than I had expected. The online reaction is just bonkers. People who complain its not $45k (c'mon for a launch performance dual motor with 656hp?!) and don't realize a Toyota Camry is now 45k, and the avg new car now is 52k.

I hope Rivian sells a ton of these.

The pricing sounds great. However, I'm seriously doubting the specs, more specifically the range estimate.

330 miles on a 87.9 kwh battery equates to 3.75 mi/kWh.

That only seems remotely possible in low speed, around town, frequent stops type of trips.
That range tracks with the comments from the reviews from Marquis and CarWow. They commented averaging 3.5 while they drove on the All terrain, and calculating about 315 on those tires so 330 sounds about right.

After sitting in a BMW, I am reminded how much worse a Tesla's interior is. It's Toyota Corolla levels of basic if it wasn't for the infotainment.

I think that the R2 interior is going to be superior to the Tesla offerings, just with the two screens alone (was so happy at the reveal that they didn't go to one central screen!). Along with more advanced functionality with the steering wheel thumbwheels, material quality (and just a better design, in my opinion) that the R2 will feel more premium in comparison.

Agreed they're very different vehicles, as I've already stated. However, my worry is that there would be a lot of folks who're going to be assuming what I'm assuming and will cross-shop the R2 vs the MY. Whether the R2 can command a 5k price premium will remain to be seen. I was really hoping Rivian (with all the work they put into cost-optimizing the R2) would gets it's pricing so solid relatively to the Model Y that it would be a no-brainer for cross-shoppers. If these numbers are indeed true, alas it doesn't look like that's the case.
Rivian shouldn’t focus so much on matching Tesla pricing. Tesla has the means to drop prices any time they want, and they will if they feel threatened.

Not when you can get a Model Y for $48k. $7k difference is a lot. And Tesla has the (misleading) impression that there autonomy capability.
That's like saying people can save money on buying a 4runner because they can buy a Camry for $7k less. Different use case, different clientele, different market.
