I think Rivian needs to stop comparing themselves to Tesla for their driving abilities and should do more competitive analysis from other competitors. A friend of ours who is a GC just leased a new GMC truck with the SuperCruise Feature. We were out on the interstate the other day and it was hands free (eyes on the road with at least 3-4 cameras pointed at his face). He said watch how the system reacts and be increased the cruise speed by about 10MPH.

Without any hands, the truck sped up and when it got to a vehicle in front of us who was moving slower, it signaled, changes lanes and moved at the set speed. It told you what it was doing as it was doing it. This system, like Rivian, only works on mapped roads, but would be a vast improvement over what's going on now. The system did disengage once and gave a similar warning to what the Rivian does when it is about to disengage.

Rivian is already there, they just haven't enabled the automatic lane change, only lane change on request.

I don't use that feature in our Sierra anyway, I find it annoying because the computer doesn't look far enough ahead. The left lane might be clear, but it's being camped in further ahead -- changing lanes at that particular moment is not helpful. This situation happens way more than I expected, you just don't realize the frequency of it so much when you're doing the driving.

This! I want SuperCruise. You can keep FSD (which I had for six years). Highway autonomy for me!

I have it enabled in my Silverado EV, but I'm kind of in the same boat. I also wish that it was more navigation aware too -- it frequently tries to pass when the exit is 1/2 mile a way or whatever.

That said, I think that SuperCruise is excellent overall. I recently drove for about an hour to a pony league game, and had it engaged non stop for ~50 minutes of that trip. Clearly better than G1/G2 Rivian, AP1/AP2 Tesla. Certainly not perfect, but very impressive. The seat vibration and wheel visual indicator are appreciated.

This is basically what they said when I put my deposit down on my R1. I'll believe it when I see it.

Tesla needs lots of improvements for FSD. But if rivian can get as close as to tesla, I will be happy. Right now it's not worth 2500. But on other hand if I pay 2500 and somehow it does improve to tesla level.... That will be a big bargain compare to 8000.
