Love my R1S, but frustrated by a "Principle of the Matter" Service Issue (Stuck Charging Cable)

This is one of those instances in life where if I was the customer service rep on the phone with you, I would just ask for your Venmo (which I'm guessing you wouldn't give) and pay you out of my own pocket, so I could move on with life. Serviously, you think the world would be right if the nice guy on the line said I'm sorry, Rivian makes mistakes. In all honesty, he probably doesn't give a flying X#@% whether a guy that paid a $100K + for a Rivian R1S gets his $2.50. You'd be surprised how many Rivian employees can't afford to own the vehicle we are blessed to be able to own. WIth that said, I'm not trying to personally attack you, because we all have our priniciples and crosses we are willing to die on.... but as the guy from the outside looking in, this seems rather silly.

With all that said, call your credit card company that is tied to your Rivian account and do a charge back. I bet that works....

I do understand OP’s reaction. Remember how excited I was taking delivery 6 months ago but then little things started to creep up and kept on coming.

1) car drives straight but steering wheel is cricked. And it could use bit more self centering.
2) Doors/hood/back door whether using Bluetooth/UWB/NFC locking and unlocking behavior is inconsistent and unpredictable if PROXIMITY is disabled, which I often do when not at home. Because you don’t want your car doors unlock as soon as you’re nearby. With iPhone in pocket and Apple Watch on wrist you’re supposed to be able to press driver door to open. But 8 out of 10 times door won’t unlock if proximity is disabled, not even long press.
3) Air suspension feels sluggish and mushy. It behaves erratically. Slow kneeling was addressed by update but it gradually became slow again. It sometimes self adjusts height when stopping at red light.
4) With premium audio option music sounds terrible even after recent update to address issue. Speakers rattle at certain frequencies and volume.
5) Infotainment screen suddenly started to reboot itself and asking me to login. But after little while it corrected itself. I did hard reboot afterwards hoping it’ll not happen again.

I saved these issues for my next 7500 miles service but honestly I have no confidence that they will all be addressed and fixed. It might depend on how the person books your service correctly to alert technicians. And it depends on how well trained tech people are and how much time they can spend on it. Whether I can get a loaner will be another issue. Rivian Service Center is brand new in upstate NY and all other centers are well over 100 miles away. OP’s experience lowered my expectations even more. I was driving a RAV4 Prime for over 2 years before Rivian. I seriously don’t remember having anxiety like this. RAV4 was just a boring and non-anxiety inducing car! 🤣 But I’m still in good humor. Will report after my first service.
