I'm considering the Aluminum EV Sportline RMaxx running boards with aero covers (mostly due to low weight), but have a couple of "localish" questions.

1. Anyone have experience using these in the Sierra during winter? From the photos, it looks like they'd ice up pretty easy, and you'd have zero traction using them to step up or down. Any pointers to a better setup appreciated.

2. Any recommendations on installers locally?

Thanks!

I have had mine (aluminum w/aero panels) this winter. What I can say the bigger issue is ice icing up preventing door opening than anything else, but it's the same with any running boards you put on the R1 except the nerf bars type. Traction is not the issue for me.

The install on all the R1 sliders/running boards is super straightforward. You don't need an installer.

I personally think its worth investing in real rock sliders over basic running boards. Especially considering you can use kneel mode if it's just about getting in/out.

I've been using the megawatt sliders for years now (which are pretty heavy) and I have seen zero impact on efficiency. Weight in the right places on this truck doesn't matter that much.

I live on the peninsula and can show you mine. You don’t need an installer but seeing it in person might help. PM if interested

Oh, I hadn't thought of the ice up issue -- thanks for the heads up!

I have these...and love them. Reel Wheels EV
Any "ice up" issues? They look like they have more room to drip off, because they are lower. Any guess at how much ground clearance you lost? (Not a major issue for me, just curious.)

Thanks for mentioning these -- I hadn't spotted them in my research.

Op, most people can install your own running boards with cheap tools. Bonus is that once you install them you can always remove them later, say you lease is up. I found no loss of ground clearance or icing of any kind. The only cutting is with the bottom plastic trim which is optional.
