No one has mentioned this specifically, but SoH is really important for used car sales. A vehicle with 98% SoH is worth more than one with 88% SoH, all else being equal of course.

I don't like government mandates, so I hope reporting the SoH in used car listings becomes an industry standard via the free market, because buyers demand it.
Since you injected (libertarian?) politics, this is exactly the kind of situation where government "mandates" and standards should be in place. There is no reason that a used EV purchaser should not have a right to SOH. And for that data, easily manipulated, to be regulated as to how it is calculated.

Voters elect representatives who make laws and regulations. Or they elect representatives who do not do so. The result is predictable and now verifiable.

Buyer beware....

Revealing the SoH is definitely opening a can of worms.

SoH is available via a OBDII scanner from the Ford Mach-e. I tracked mine from when I purchased the car to when I traded it in for the R1T.

It goes up and down somewhat randomly, with a little sagging in the winter. It is fun to watch until it keeps dropping and you don't know why. Losing over 10% of my battery capacity in 3 years did not make me a happy camper.

There are so, so many posts on the Mach-e forum regarding SoH. People get very worked up about it, and it can create additional headaches for the service department.

I am glad Rivian is finally revealing it, but watch out for all the posts about it when it happens.
My Tesla Model 3 tests at 86% after 8 years and 46K miles. Not too bad
