I finally took mine in today for this issue since they opened a location closer to me. My steering wheel is being replaced. I was told this is a band aid fix and won't completely resolve it.....but they are still working on a long term fix. We shall see....

New Steering wheel installed. There is some improvement and I do like the feel of the heavier wheel. I'm glad I went through the trouble to do it but still feel the wobble at higher speeds. I may try road force balancing again....I assumed Rivian would do this as well but they didnt.

Wobble at high speed is a wheel/tire issue. Road force balancing should help. I had to do it twice.

Is the road force necessary for the rear wheels as well or just the fronts which would impact the steering wheel vibration?

Just had the TSB dine this past week. I had the slight vibration at 68 - 75 mph. Our March 23 R1S originally came with sport darks, but I bought a set of 20" ATs with factory Scorpions to use for summer time camping trips. Right from the start, we noticed the vibrations with the ATs. I had them road force balanced a few times, but it didnt help. I ended up getting another set of 20" AT wheels with Toyo Open County EV SL tires. The vibration was reduced a ton, but still noticeable at the same speeds. That is why I finally scheduled a service to see if the tsb would help.

As part of the TSB, they checked my wheels for bends and proper balance, which all checked out. They also inspected the suspension for any issues. They did make me switch back to the OEM lugnuts. They said the aftermarket Gorilla branded forged lugnuts I bought did not have the proper beveled angle to match with the oem wheel to give a proper contact area. I don't buy that part, but I brought the originals down to rule them out.

Im currently on a trip from LA to Los Vegas and I can say that the new wheel really did help with the vibration. When my hands are on the wheel it it unnoticeable and a night/ day difference. If I want to be super picky, I can see a little vibration while in Driver + with my hands off, but that is probably the vehicle hunting around to center itself.

Last thing... I won't tell my wife, because she didn't notice, but Im pretty sure they gave me an Adventure steering wheel. I think it looks fine, but I think the Launch edition wheel is supposed to have silver trim ring at bottom opening of the wheel.

Does the same suspension issue that causes steering wheel shake also cause tire cupping?

TL;DR

I'm going to rehash this thread instead of starting a new one. I'm in search of advice concerning my steering wheel shake. Here's the sequence of events

Config: 2023 R1T, Off-road upgrade
Jan 2025, 20k mile ODO- Take R1T into service complaining of steering wheel shake and creaking while turning at low speed. They fix by replacing steering wheel, all four tires, and front hub bearings

Winter 2025, 38k mile ODO - Tire shake has slowly come back. Tire rotations have no effect. Creaking noise coming from axles at start of acceleration/deceleration.

April 2026, 45k miles ODO -Tire rotation at home. Problem persists. Take into America's Tire for road force balance and shaking is 80% reduced, but they say my tires have cupping and I should consider replacing. Tread depth is 7/32". Also, the software update that magically makes the shaking better is installed.

I have a service appointment to at least deal with the creaking sound, but I'm unsure how to approach the steering shake/cupping issue. My plan is to replace these tires with Michelin Defenders when they're worn out, but I'd like to avoid destroying tires every 20k miles due to suspension issues that I presume are causing the cupping. I'm wondering if the tires were cupped in Jan 2025 service appointment and that's why they replaced them.
