There's already faster charging than this, too.

I am so bummed right now… RoW can get this next year, but the U.S. can’t…
Even if the cars were sold here, it isn't like there are any 800kw chargers here. These speeds will reach these shores eventually.

I can already see it. A bunch of 800kw chargers plugged into Chevy Bolts, taking 1+ hour to charge

Exactly and people home charge and 400kW charging (available now) gets it done in 18 minutes so not a huge difference and I am sure better battery reliability.

Yeah I understand the ecosystem needs to be present. But the entire ecosystem will be in Europe next year, and already present in China.

I’m not expecting this ecosystem in the U.S. any time soon :(

We really need to get past the mentality of EVs are only for home charging users. The faster EVs can charge and get full like gas cars, the significantly faster adoption EVs will have.

18 minutes is from 10-80% for 400kw. This BYD is 8 minutes to 97% charge

BYD is deploying 20,000 of these chargers this year alone.

We all know there are times we need to immediately leave for a trip and the battery is not charged fully - the difference between 8 minutes to full and 30 minutes to 80% at dcfc are game changer. For these times I could care less about better battery reliability.

Need a TL;DW for the OOS video, as usual.

Also, rather than just consider how fast you can charge to get back on the road, or whether this helps support people who can't charge at home, look at how this changes the throughput of a charging station from a vehicle perspective. When each vehicle only needs to charge for 6-10 minutes vs. 20-30, you can charge 3x as many cars in a given period of time. You can have fewer stations servicing a larger area, or reduce/eliminate waiting at existing overloaded stations, or have mini-stations with only 2-4 DCFCs where real estate is at a premium.

The difference is the support from the government. Unfortunately, ours is stifling the development and implementation of this tech.

Luckily someone told me where to advance to. The only part I watched was the charging at 42 minutes. I want to know WTF sits around watching this guy ramble for hours.

BYD and the Chinese car market have a lot of smoke and mirrors. I wouldn’t truly believe anything, or cut the promises by half.
