Can't be true. You obviously didn't really drive a CT. But if you did, you didn't enjoy it because you are misinformed about your own feelings and opinions. LOL
Compared to the time Ford, GM, Chrysler, etc. have been in the US market that is, indeed, relatively recently. Also, Audi sold just over 12k vehicles in the US in 1991, after the "unintended acceleration" issue (that wasn't their fault at all). Their reputation was garbage in the US. No brand...
Consumers are brand-loyal until they aren't. Tesla is a great example of creating a brand from scratch. Audi has existed for a long time, but had no footprint in the US until relatively recently and its initial brand value in the US was AWFUL. They've turned it around and do fairly well in the...
Exactly. And the announcements read like VW will actually be licensing the software and ECU architecture from the JV, so the JV will have ongoing revenue in addition to the billions in capital that VW is putting into it. (it's $3 billion cash to Rivian and $2 billion to the JV, if I understand...
Maybe. They've already got several physical buttons in the R1s (e.g. stalks, multi-function wheels and buttons on the steering wheel, window and door buttons, etc.). Adding a few more at VW's request would be extremely doable.
I read "future revenue opportunities associated with the joint venture" to most likely mean things like subscription services tied to the software or licensing parts of the tech to 3rd parties beyond Rivian and VW Group.
The material cost savings and operating expense efficiencies are fairly...
Oh, completely agree about the benefit to Rivian. I was responding to all the posts about pipe dreams like joint manufacturing to bring the R2 or R3 to market sooner, or a Rivian-built Scout, etc. From the consumer perspective, the only thing we're likely to ever see from this directly is VWs...
Hate to be Debbie Downer, but consumers probably won't see anything from this for at least 2-3 years, and it will be in the form of better, cheaper VW EVs with better wiring and software.
If it's affecting people's radar detectors, then there's a problem with SpaceX's dish.
I don't know the specific frequency ranges of each license, but there shouldn't be overlap and if there is, SpaceX would be required to mitigate any conflicts.
According to Plugshare, there's an 8-stall EA charger between Moab and Arches NP. There's also a Tesla Supercharger station with Magic Docks at the Hyatt Place in Moab. Both are open.
Look at the charger info on Plugshare. As others have said, most of the Shell Recharge stations can't hit 150kW unless you have an 800V vehicle. Plugshare will often have checkins with notes about the amps the station actually gives.
*radio frequencies, not radar (RADAR originated as an acronym of RAdio Detection And Ranging)
A google search suggests a couple people have been successful using it inside a Model Y:
I would be surprised if the Rivian roof has any major differences that would change the function...
I haven't fiddled with ABRP in a while. Waiting for my R1S to register for the live data. Had me looking at all the different settings you can use for your vehicle and route preferences. What's a reasonable but slightly conservative reference consumption for the R1S large pack, 21" wheels? I...
