I agree, the truck is awesome but it 2018’s hella bad.
400v battery tech, 300 mile range is acceptable today but will be dated real quick.
I’m starting to think GM is the dark horse in the EV industry. They are focusing on battery supply chain and the ability to scale up. The cars are the...
What’s a “tag”? I’ve heard random people say that for years but never new what they meant. Assumed it was something in the Midwest or east coast. Is that the license plate or the tabs?
First thing to test/check on door fitment issues is the door catch plate and latch alignment.
1) Wrap a small strip of blue tape around the door catch loops attached to the body of the the truck.
2) open and close each door a few times.
3) check the blue tape for scuffs and scrapes. It should...
Says more about the Rivian service team than the body shop. Seriously is service just finding the closest “body shop” and not visiting them to inspect the shop, staff and examples of their work? The definition of phoning it in.
when people buy a brand new car they want a “FACTORY FINISH”...
Sounds like the doors are not installed or aligned properly. Probably the door latch is grinding on the catch plate loop since they are out of alignment. This flexes the door at the hinges and bends it a bit. Causes you to slam to doors to close them and wears out the door hinges over time...
Rivian already offers a good amount of factory tools, diagnostics and manuals. Mostly to support body shops since all Rivian’s are under warranty for defects.

Almost the entire car is assembled by robots at both factories. It will always be a system of corrections and adjustments by humans at the end of the line. I suspect Austin has improved processes but when you turn the assembly line up to 11 you will always have more issues with fit and paint.
Pop the hood and pop the trim off along the fenders. Take the front bumper cover off, wheel arch trim and fender liners out.
The fender needed to be relaxed a bit and shimmed up on the passenger side with a couple stainless washers. Had to move the headlight up a touch in its mount after that...
Yes you just adjust at the mounts but it's tricky and easier with two people. Use some rolled up towels at the top edge of the hood to keep it from moving too far back. The Hood it tricky since you can only loosen/tighten it when it's lifted. You have to loosen it just a bit so there is still...
A classic case of Stupid or Liar... Either the assembly and inspection people are stupid (undertrained) or they are Lying (playing dumb) and forcing you to catch them.
Haha - Most of my friends take me with them to inspect their Tesla's... I should start a mobile inspection service. Happy to FaceTime on delivery day if you want ?
There are VERY RARE exceptions but you just never see this on the traditional brands, especially Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda or the...
Our M-Y was laughable on door, hatch and hood fitment. The paint was decent and correctable so we accepted it and I fixed everything myself. I did have mobile service come out and replace the charge port since the door was wonky and there is no way to adjust it. The kid forgot to reinstall the...
here is how the hood gaps should fit. I had to fix my own truck. Rivian messed with it, made it worse and chipped my paint. I fixed it at my shop in 20 min.
Sorry didn't mean for that to sound like was peeing in your cornflakes. I do body work and build custom cars so I'm pretty matter of fact with stuff like this. Most body shops are not great and with Rivian being so new not a lot of experience out there. Just looking out for my fellow Rivian...
They didn’t reinstall your hood properly. The hood should fit flush with the front of the fenders when closed. Looks like your hood is sitting about a 1/4 in back from the tip of the fenders when closed. Check if it’s rubbing on the fender trim up at the top corners near the windshield when...
