I am well aware of the real world, but that doesn't make it right. It's this kind of stuff that steered me away from Tesla. If Rivian turns out to be no better, it will be one and done for me.

If you are not ready, do NOT confirm your configuration. I am not sure how long you can delay your delivery by not confirming. It seems like Rivian is trying to clear outstanding orders as quickly as possible, so you might be nudged to proceed at some point.
GR
Wishing you luck on your delivery. While it's likely going to be a major pain returning it and lose out on preferential pricing, I would rather do that than get stuck with a vehicle I am unhappy with. From what I have been told, rejecting delivery should preserve pricing and deposit.
GR
Thanks. I guess it's not based on WA rules/laws since you paid more than what was allowed. Perhaps since the transaction is technically based in Illinois, that's what they are basing it on. For states that allow direct sales, then it's whatever stipulated by that state's rules/laws.
GR
I have been told $200. That's the most I have had to paid the last few vehicles I purchased. How much were you charged?
GR
Edited to add: Just looked this up on dor.wa.gov.
How much can the dealer charge for a document service fee?
Effective July 26, 2009, a dealer can charge up to $150...
I am guessing you didn't register in WA. If so, how much were you charged?
Is that what was charged to you? If it varies by state based on its registration (vs. purchase), then it should be the amount capped by the state I reside in, correct?
GR
Let me clarify a bit of what I have been told. Apparently, once you confirm your configuration, the deposit becomes nonrefundable. You must proceed to take delivery of whatever assigned to you at that point. However, you still have the option of rejecting delivery if the vehicle is unacceptable...
Is the document fee based on maximum allowed by the state of Illinois or state the vehicle is going to be registered in? Just want to double check since it's almost double the amount capped by the state I reside in.
GR
That's not what I have been told multiple times recently. I was told by my guide if I don't take delivery of my assigned R1S within a week or so of it being ready, I will lose my $1K deposit and unmatching VIN is apparently not an option if the vehicle is ready.
GR
It's the same up here in WA as I was told (no cashier's check). That's what led me to seek clarification on the return policy in case I get stuck with one I am not happy with. However, I have read reports of refund (deposits) taking "forever." I won't be thrilled if it takes several months to...
Thanks so much! I found that email. Do I need to have that added back to my order/configuration by my guide before I take delivery next week in order not to lose to old pricing?
GR
I agree. How did that even pass QC at the factory or inspection at SC? If it were me, I probably would have rejected it rather than dealing with it after delivery. I am now worried about my own delivery as they seem to be in "end of quarter rush" mode.
GR
Does anyone know if the compact spare was available on the configurator before the price hike? I don't remember seeing it as an option when I recently locked in my current configuration. I will be taking delivery soon and would like to get pre-March pricing if possible.
GR
That's more concerning to me than looks. Is that because of design flaw? I don't mind keeping them on, but not if they would ruin the rims. Is anyone else having the same issue?
GR
I think he and I may have the same guide. I asked to unmatched my VIN assigned about a week ago. I was flat out told that the reservation (pre-March) will be canceled and the deposit gone.
This is leaving a bitter taste in my mouth because I have endured multiple delays and change in trim...
Thanks. How about rejecting delivery? Would that result in losing pre-March pricing? I don't want to take something that's unacceptable even though it may be fixable. While I am not looking for perfection, certain things may never look right if not built correctly at first.
GR
Not sure what OP ultimately decided, but I am curious what are the consequences of returning within the 7 days/1K period. I can't imagine Rivian would refund the registration/doc fees. What about taxes? Freight cost? As I am nearing my own delivery, I want to know what options I would have if I...
