  1. Rivian-friendly comparison with the Silverado EV: "I drove the Rivian R1T and Chevrolet Silverado EV for a week — here’s the winner"

This review definitely seems to be more a defacto confirmation of someone’s already conceived notions. For one, the absence of the Cybertruck in the review is telling since it is a truck. The omission indicates the author doesn’t like the Cybertruck and did not even give it a chance. Second...
  2. Conversation with my neighbor... Are Rivian's really for rich people?

Maybe this is simply psychology at work. By you commenting on his purchase of a seriously used vehicle he could have taken that as a slam that he is poor and simply lashed out with a comment that attempted to place you as an outsider (the rich) rather than ā€œnormalā€ people like him. Also, in...
  3. 3rd party wall chargers ok or not?

While I have never had issues with current that I know of, I am intested in increasing safety with all the high current devices our homes have. I’m familiar with current clamp meters, but not familiar with a permanently installed current clamp that can adjust the Wallbox charging current...
  4. Do you get dinged if you turn in a leased Rivian with an aftermarket windshield?

Hello, looking for othersā€˜ experiences before I get my cracked R1T windshield replaced. My insurance obviously wants to go with non-Rivian install due to cost. But this limits the windshield to OEE vs OEM. Supposedly the OEE for Rivian is made by the same company as OEM but some posts have...
  5. Auto high beams with fog lights active

Ditto. I did this by accident and learned something.
  6. 3rd party wall chargers ok or not?

+1 on Wallbox. No issues whatsoever and it provides a nice night light for the garage. You can also set the amperage lower than the max. I set mine at 32A as the extra time needed is inconsequential for a night charge. Reduces stress on the wiring and circuit panel. Midpriced. Got mine at...
  7. What’s the deal with the locks issues?

Yeah, I wish it LOCKED when I am a little closer. I have to walk 30-40 feet away.
  8. What’s the deal with the locks issues?

I have an iPhone 14 that had some issues initially, but Rivian fixed that in a previous update (specifically for the iPhone 14’s). Since then no issues. The good news seems to be this seems to be a software fix, not harware.
  9. 18 month review, read if you're leasing.....

I have the same vintage truck with lease starting in April 24. I have Dual Max Pack though, and the free Performance upgrade. You have a killer lease payment (mine is $812), although I did get the NACS and some other things free. I would agree with the lane keeping features of the Gen 1 R1T...
  10. One year left on lease need to replace 20 A/T tire

When I was looking for a spare tire, I googled the OEM tire and came up with lots of used, pretty cheap OEM tires online. Seems like most were from the Chicago area. Some had new levels of tread (9/32). I don’t know if these were irregular, but they are good enough for a spare or a lease turn in.
  11. One year left on lease need to replace 20 A/T tire

Thanks for the pointer. I found the answer and other good info in Customer Support. Minimum is 4/32.
  12. One year left on lease need to replace 20 A/T tire

I’m in my first ever lease. I would think tire wear would fall under normal wear and tear. The leasing agent surely can’t expect a brand new vehicle after three years. Can someone who has been through a lease before explain what is expectation is upon turn in?
  13. Noisy! 30K on Michelin Defender LTX Platinums (275/65/R20)

No an expert here on tire wear, but I once had a Ford truckk that would consistently scallop or cup the tread, making them extremely noisy. You can see this in the adjacent heights of tread edges. There will be a light difference in height if scalloped. I understand this can be due to...
  14. Lease vs Purchase

Each case is different and lease terms aren’t always favorable. That is why I stressed one needs to do your homework. Curious, though. Is the interest tax deduction a state thing?
  15. Lease vs Purchase

I agree. The lease is pretty cut and dried. Now if Chase was cutting deals, that would be a story unto itself. Also, I think using short-term market volatility as an excuse to buy out the lease was short-sighted.
  16. Lease vs Purchase

There is another thread in this forum about leasing vs buying. The OP ended up putting together a great tool for decisions that he shared with anyone who wanted it. You should suss that out. Bottom line, you need to do your homework on the actual numbers and then figure in the intangibles...
  17. Trolley Jack Recommends?

3 ton minimum per manual. Get a long reach unless you have extra long pucks. I’ve got two, one a long reach and the other used with a tall puck. Height is needed because you have to raise vehicle to its highest and thenn jack the vehicle up. Both of mine are from Harbor Freight and have been...
  18. Need R1T Purchase Advice, Buy Now in November or Wait for Better deal in December?

The OP said they did not have exactly what he wanted in stock.
  19. Need R1T Purchase Advice, Buy Now in November or Wait for Better deal in December?

Sales and profits are measured on a quarterly basis. I’m guessing December will be something better as Rivian is following short of their annual projection. My two cents….
  20. Review: I rode the ALSO TM-B E-Bike: Rivian Micromobility Startup’s First EV

I am seriously considering this bike but am not clear on the colorway differences between the Launch vs regular edition TM-B. I sent an ask to their customer support and received the following: ā€For color options we currently are offering some special color accents on the Launch Edition where...
